Pours a very viscous-looking close to black body with a tiny, short-lived head. Sweet and intense aroma of dark roasted malt, dark caramel, chocolate, coffee, bourbon and liquorice. Intense flavour of alcohol, dark roasted malt, dark caramel, chocolate and coffee. Moderate to heavy sweet taste with a fairly heavy bitter and long-lasting finish. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice brew, but would it have been even better if the ABV had been lower?

375 ml green bottle, capped. From Vinmonopolet. ABV is 19.3%. Pitch black colour, moderate tan head. Intense aroma of Buffalo Trace whiskey, vanilla, oak, molasses, fusel alcohols, dark chocolate and roast malts. Intense and warming mouthfeel. Overwhelming flavour of roast malts, coffee, alcohol, whiskey / oak / vanilla, tar, molasses, liquorice and bittering hops. Insane - but good.

(Bottle) Black colour with dense, beige head. Malty, roasted, woody nose with notes of liquorice, soy sauce, strong black coffee, bourbon, vanilla, tar, salmiac and oak wood. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with strong black coffee, liquorice, soy sauce, tar, bourbon, vanilla, lots of wood and a strong, vinous finish with a generous coffee bitterness. Full body (or rather massive), with a certain sweetness. Massive stout with lots of bourbon and oak and a fair amount of warming alcohol. Not very subtle, but very nice stuff.

Bottle 0.375l. Absolutely black body, small tan head. Aroma of oak barrel, roasted cocoa beans, dates, raisins, cherries, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, bourbon. Taste is neutral to bitter-sweet. Dark chocolate, bourbon, dark fruits -mostly wild cherries-, cocoa powder, dates, toffee, hint of vanilla on background. Full body, really silky smooth texture, low carbonation. 19% abv is unbelievable.
Glorious!
Personal note: 2/3 BA for celebration of 3rd wedding anniversary.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Pours like motor oil black, haze, with creamy, stable brown head. Aroma: intense barrell bourbon aroma, supported with rich dark malt aroma, with notes of coffee, dark bittersweet chocolate, supported with roasted malt aroma, refined dark sugar, and with fuity aroma, which takes on cherries. Flavor: rich, complex malt flavors, which takes on roasted, coffee, cocoa nibs, cacao, bittersweet dark chocolate, supported with strong note of bourbon. Intense are also hop flavors, which takes on dark fruits, especially cherries. In the background are also detectable flavors of vanilla, something like soy souce and oak (tannins) Malt sweetness is very high, hop bitterness also. Finish is sticky slightly bitter and dry. Body is full, texture is unbealivable silky smooth, carbonation is low. Alcohol warmth is obvious after first ship. Overall: this is truly the Beast!

Bottle shared on the 42nd floor. 2012 vintage, 19.3%. Black, big foamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, molasses. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is bitter up front, heavily roasted dark malts, dark chocolate, dense vanilla cake, ash and booze. Huge beer. Definitely some booze showing up but quite drinkable for a 19%er. Nice.

42nd Floor Tasting. Thanks to Dan for this beast. Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. All these Black’s have bitter dry dark malts, but here it is not quite as prevalent with some dark chocolate providing relief. Bourbon soaked dark fruits. Spicy licorice. Dry bitter and spicy finish. One of the better ones in this long running series.
