4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium sized, vast and slowly changing, ashy brown foamy head on top of a pitch black colored beer.
The aroma (already from the bottle) is immense and heavenly: loads of bourbon, vanilla, liquorice, spices, cream, whiskey. And this all arose from the glass too with even some more: coffee, roast, sweet/sticky, creamy, hint of alcohol.
A lovely thick and complex aroma.
Flavours of vanilla, earth, liquorice, cream, bitter, molasses, roasted malts, spices, wood, soya, pepper, toffee, sticky brown sugars, some chocolate, ligt tar, light vinous, wood roast, some burn, alcohol drenched and roasted herbs/leaves, cognac, coffee, loght chalky and some brandy notes. Very complex as one can see.
Aftertaste is dark bitter, malty, liquorice, spicy, roast, liquor ish, herbal roast, chocolate and liquorice wood.
Low carbo, soft silky yet spicy mouthfeel, full complex body and a creamy oily sticky texture.
Aroma of this beer is killer!
Flavour is pretty good, but the 19,3% alcohol is very noticeable. though it’s not irritating, as it is more spicy like pepper, it has a somewhat overwhelming (duh) identity that is just too much present.

Boom. Wow. Bottle shared at home, cheers Steven! Did I say wow? Massive, crazy beer. Chocolate, tar, tongue-numbing booziness. Rich like Midas, chewing on papyrus. Goes to your head a bit... W.o.w.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle... Pours tar-black with a small, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The nose is a decadent ribbon of dark, rich fudge and sweetened espresso. Full-bodied and oily with vibrant carbonation. The flavor is red-freaking-hot and very bitter – the bourbon barrel, base beer and lupulin all see to that. The flavor provides deep fudge chocolatyness and sweetness, but who cares? - everything else is so red-freaking-hot. Finishes ashen, boozy and bitter. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

This is crazy. Hot and boozy but not really in a bad way, and the bitterness somehow regulates. It's astonishing how balanced this beer is. Like an aperitif though. It's magic but insane.

been waiting a long time for a reason to open this ! this is why i did it after all :
i’m PISSED OFF AS FUCK . realy feel like hurting / killing. instead of doing that, i shall intoxicate myself to a point i can no longer be a ’potential harm to mankind’ for the next couple of hours. How? with a BLACK BUFFALO . not the beast, but the beer ( that is a beast of its own ! )
dug up from the cellar, so nice not-to-cold temperature. left it in the living room for 15 minutes first too, just making sure we get all the goodies out of it !
pours very dark , clear brown, but its all black in the glass. slowly rising brown foam, than fades away rather quick. but still, impressive foam at this ABV !
best before 16/2/22 so i think about a year old ? ( or if its month/day its something like 9 months old? )
smell is pretty reminding of black, oaty, .. but starts of with a little hint of bourbon ( not to much and you get used to that quick) . also get a bot of booze ( no shit, sherlock ! )
waaw... very low carbo
enters not THAT thick as i’d expect, but realy nice , full body, oaty, some chocolat; VERY bitter , alcohol’burn’ comes very late, along woth boozy-like taste , vapourizing up from your throat when you’ve swallowed it. this actualy is pretty complex ! so incredibaly bitter!
the buffalo definetly causes more boozyness, more complexity, etc. but what it does NOT do ( and i’m SOO glad for that) is make this beer taste like bourbon and only bourbon.
very nice, i shall drink this, all of it ! full bottle by myself! if you ever see a rating # 627 , posted by me, i guess this did work and i’m not in jail ( or death by to much alcohol as i shall probably be drinking a 37,5 of end of history or something like that )
so if you do see # 627, drink this when you’re extremely pissed ! fuck humanity, all we need is beer :p

Amazing Imperial Stout. Have wanted to try it for so long. Not dissapointed in the least. Super black with a tiny tan head. Nose of intense bourbon. Tastes of fine bourbon with a mellow vanilla aftertaste. Also a lot of coffee and a bit of hop notes mixed in. Just a great beer.

En veldig sterk øl, kanskje den sterkeste jeg har prøvd. Madsen målt og sødme. Bitter og god.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
375 mL bottle at Churchkey in Washington DC, served in a snifter. Pours black with a minimal number of tan bubbles. The nose is beautiful, with bourbon, oak and charred notes, along with roast malts, molasses, herbs and perhaps a hint of peat. The flavour is quite sweet, with chocolate, bourbon, oak and vanilla. Subtle hops are present, but in the minority. Roasty, oaky vanilla notes develop towards the end and linger in a long, roasty, chocolatey finish. On the nose it is full in body with a creamy-syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is truly an amazing imperial stout. A beautiful composition with subtle vanilla, chocolate and oaky bourbon. One of the best out there. 2012-06-09
