maneliquor (3154) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 21, 2012
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2013 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours viscous black with a small tan ring for a head which quickly disappears leaving a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Nose is very bourbon forward. Lots of ash and smokey tones throughout with some heavy roasted malts and coffee. Almost a touch of coconut and salty dark chocolate. Vanilla seems to add a hint of sweetness to it which helps it come across ’less big.’ Taste is dominated by ashy malts and bourbon. Lots of oak and smokiness behind it all. Very mocha forward with a burnt note to it. Huge beer and quite boozy but that’s to be expected at 19%. The finish is exactly that of bourbon. Expect big

0.375 l bottle. Black color. Aromas of perfumed & boozy alcohol, oak and roasty licorice. Roasty, oaky and boozy taste with salty licorice, coffee. Thick full body. First centiliters were nice but soon this turned into a very boozy and oaky cocktail. Rich long finish.

WHAT A BEER! SOMEWHAT OVERWHELMING. THIS IS A SLOW, WONDERFUL PROCESS LEADING TO THE BOTTOM OF A SNIFTER. LICORICE, VANILLA, WITH BOURBON OVERTONES.

Bottle at Cask Pub. Black as hell lasting tan head. Intense aroma and the buffalo trace comes through. Which is fine by me as I like Buffalo Trace. Then its the regular Black goodness but slightly hotter. Cool

375ml gree bottle shared by harrisoni at Cask Pub And Kitchen. Black pour, solid frothy light brown head. Oily, tar like aroma - molasses, alcohol, heavy massive roast - aroma even better, not a vanilla bomb of sweetness like many. Thick, oily, perfect carbonation - longish almost bunt bitter boozy finish. Terrif - thw fumes got me half drunk - thank you very much, Ian!!!

Bottled 375ml (vPBF)
Dark opaque black color, tiny beige head. Burned malts, bourbon, hints of vanilla in the intensive nose. Full-bodied. Burned malts and burning alcohol in the flavor. Bourbon and black coffee. Palate is liquerish, but this is very alcoholic.

lusikka (6340) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 26, 2012
375 ml bottle @ vPBF 2012.
Pours a pitch black colour with a beige creamy head, which settles quite quickly. Aroma of strong salty licorice, vanilla and some roasted malts. Aggressive flavour of roasted malts, salty licorice, really strong tangy wood, soy sauce, burnt coffee and loads and loads of alcohol. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a long, burning alcohol finish at first which lingers on quite long. Will probably settle down after aging.

37,5 cl bottle @ vPBF
Aroma has soy sauce, licorice and hints of cocoa. Flavour has really strong, stinging whiskey, alcohol, burned malt and rubber. Really hardcore stuff – and not in a good way. If Mikkeller Black was the tire of the car, this is the tire of the truck.
