fiulijn (19347) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 26, 2011
Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Cloudy dark amber color, with red hue; creamy head. Strong hoppy aroma, citrus fruits with a tad of soil and dust, some cheese and then hop resins; maybe chaotic, but interesting indeed. The body is quite strong, with a powerful caramel flavor, some roasted malt and a tendency to earthiness; also, the yeast has quite some trace here; the hopping is obviously strong, very resiny and no longer fruity. The final is powerful, it almost becomes aggressive. It can be defined more as robust, and rough, than elegant. Very American.

Pours murky amber with a small, creamy, yellowish, film head. Aroma is pleasant, lots of grapefruit, light piney, some herbal notes and peach. Medium carbonation, light and quite dry palate. Lovely flavour at first, rather bitter in the beginning, mild fruity, some mild sweetness. Orangse, grapefruit. Long, lingering bitter finish.

Svesse (7912) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - OCT 24, 2010
(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 2 Oct 2010) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, pine needles and grainy malt. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of pine needles, citrus peel and grapefruit. Generous piney and citrussy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet and very tasty. As solid an APA as I would expect from Mikkeller. Very nice.
