Pours a hazy dark amber-orange color with a medium thick off-white head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing. Grapefruity hops aroma with a malty undertone. Medium, crisp body with citrus hops, pine and malt flavors balanced effectively. The finish is fresh hops and citrus with a lingering bitterness left behind. Solid APA all around. hopson (594), Williamsville, New York, USA

I like the disappearing foamy head that can be whipped back into frothiness with a swish of the wrist. I like that you can actually hear the beer reacting in the glass when you do that. I like the searing pine hops in the nose, I like its aggressive nature, assured balance, smooth feel, lingering bitterness, lasting hop oil feel. Damn, the only thing I don’t like is that this is my last bottle. Snojerk321 (1943), San Diego, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2008 This American Pale ale pours a medium amber brown color from a 50cl bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is piney hops and caramel malts. A medium bodied American Pale Ale. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are piney and citrusy. Very aggressively hopped for an APA, yet despite all the bitterness there is a nice malt backbone. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2008 Bottle at home purchased from Cave Direct Beer Merchants (Mixed case of Mikkeller Beer) Pours orange amber with a wonderful clarity, off white head. Tasting hoppier than the Struisse Mikkeller beer had earlier, hops very fresh and zingy. Pithy and resiny hops, finish is quite dry, very good beer. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2008 17-Jun-08 (500-ml bottle: Purchased 02-May-08 for $8.99 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) A gorgeous beer in the glass, the hazy, deep-amber body is capped by a generous, off-white layer of foam that shows superb retention. The sweet aroma of caramely malts are framed by a bouquet of sweet citrus, grapefruit, pine, earth and dust. On the palate, the entry shows a nice balance of moderately sweet, caramely malts and a complex hop profile of citrus and pine, but the beer soon exhibits far more earth, dust and resiny pine in the evolution and finish. The aggressive, hoppy bitterness builds over a few sips and quickly becomes unbalanced and unrelenting. Medium to full bodied on the palate with moderate carbonation, a crisp, bitter mouthfeel, and a very dry, almost astringent finish. This is a hop monster in the West Coast style, but the fact that it’s made in Denmark shows that even European brewers are embracing the aggressive use of hops. But for my tastes, it’s a bit too resiny and bitter.
