MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA May 21, 2008 Poured from a 500ml bottle and served in a pint glass. This pale ale pourd a cloudy, glowing orange/amber hue with a lasting head of creamy beige foam. Lots of beautiful, thick lacing. The aroma of the beer was made up of fresh grapefruit, sweet peaches, oranges, and rich caramel. The flavor included biscuit, caramel, and some mild citrus, finishing with a dry bitterness. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. A tasty, refreshing pale ale. Highly sessionable. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland May 21, 2008 Bottled
It took several hours before I understood name of this beer :) Clear amber color, small off-white head. Bready, ryeish, hoppy aroma with some barnyardish notes. (I actually don’t know if it was really barnyard, but it was my first impression, also some in flavor). Bready malty and hoppy beer with alcoholic kick. Intense beer. Very bitter. Too much everything for my liking, very hard to finish whole bottle.
17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 21, 2008 Pours glowing clear dark orange/amber with a fantastic very fluffy beige creamy head, great lacing. Smells of sweet honey, melon, spicy, and grapefruit. Very light delicate flavors. Sweet mellow honey grapefruit. Long lasting bitter aftertaste. Modest but true. Palate is waxy with soft but sizzling carbonation, very delicate. This beer is ridiculously underrated. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 19, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle during our Sunday night session. Rich, dark amber coloured with a decent off white head and some fair lacing. What a glorious aroma! Huge hoppage with so much citrus, lemon, lime, orange, tropical as hell and just really really good. Slight earthy malt waaaaay in the background with some just about detectable but very pleasing sherbert. Flavour is not quite so good but is still a lovely blend of grassy hops and earthy malt. Tropical and citric with a slight soapy hint. Big long hoppy finish. Mikkeller can do better but this is still bloody good. Thanks to Jan and Charlotte for this. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2008 A good implementation of an American classic. Slightly hazy amber, small white head. Great nose of citrus American West Coast hops. Taste of orange and grapefruit, pine, with adequate malt backbone. Dry and bitter hoppy finish. At least as nice as a Sierra Nevada Pale, which comes to mind after I remember the price of this one as more than three times higher. Nice beer. Probably deserves a 15 OA but I nailed it because of the price! greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle from BottleTrek.com. Pours amber with a big frothy head. Nice aroma of citrus and malt. Flavor is very crisp and freshing. Caramel malt, grapefruit, and some pine notes dominate the flavor. Lingering bitter finish. This represent more of an IPA than an APA, but either way, it is an excellent, easy drinking beer. buzzoven (333), Japan May 13, 2008 Wow...crazy smell...quite citrusy and heavy on the pine. So far so good...colour is thick hazy orange that borders on brown. A murky view through the glass. The taste is heavy on the hop bitterness and again with the strong citrus...orange peel, grass, dandelion stems, a slight peppery hint. The finish is interesting..sort of a wave that rises up and diminishes in a blur of bitterness on the tongue...quite aggressive bitterness, actually. This was a good, well made beer but it’s not something I could drink everyday due to the heavy feel of it. For a pale ale, it’s a wee bit overbearing for my tastes, but a solid brew, nonetheless. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam May 12, 2008 Bottle, thanks to mgumby. Bright cantaloupe melon color with small white head. Aroma of oregano, pine, bay leaf, mango, cilantro, touch of orange. Wood flavors. Cedar. Toasted coriander seeds. Clean, even, quaffable.
