fidelis83 (709), Clinton, Iowa, USA May 6, 2009 Pours Hazy copper with a 3 finger light caramel tan head that has great retention and leaves some nice sheets of lacing. Aroma is caramel, citrus, toffee, toast, an odd hearty grain note that is hard to pin down, grassy hops, and a decent helping of pine. Flavor is caramel, burnt sugar, toasted wood, citrus hops, blood orange, star fruit, toasted grain, crusty french bread, cedar and pine, nice crisp mineral notes, mango, honeydew, a touch of buttered toast and straw. Finish is bitter hops, grapefruit, a little pine, fading dark caramel, toasted nuts and toasted wood. Palate is medium thin, with a slightly slick feel leading to a pleasantly dry finish. Really good stuff, not quite enought to knock 3F Alpha King off it’s throne, damn good though. When you take into account the $8.99/500ml bottle it’s seems like it might not be a great deal, but I would still recommend trying it at least once. tarheels86 (705), Washington DC, USA May 5, 2009 500 mL. Pours an almost hazy orange with a two finger beige, fluffy head with great sticky lacing and awesome retention. Aroma is sweet caramel malt and orange juice. Taste is very on the hoppy side with perhaps not enough malt backing, but hey, this is awesome. Caramel flavors are quickly overtaken by a crazy amount of piney and citrus hops ending with an incredibly bitter, dry, nutty finish. Bitterness lingers on the palate for an eternity. Very unbalanced but still excellent. trapez (767), Hilleroed, Denmark Apr 29, 2009 Bottle. Fruity hops aroma with some malt sweeness. Orangeamber colour with high beige head. Bitter flavour of hops, grapefruit and wood with a touch of orange. Dry aftertaste. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Apr 27, 2009 bottle from Oak Tree. LIghtly hazy dark orange/light amber. Aroma of citrus- grapefruit, pine, some resin, a touch of tropical fruit and some toasted malts. Taste has a good deal of citrus, pine, earth, and a good deal of bitterness for a pale ale. The body backs it up well enough for a relatively low gravity beer- molasses, some toasty malt and a touch of fruit. Hop character could have been just a bit fresher, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. deyholla (508), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Apr 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours golden/orange with a small head. Great aroma with hints of fruits and flowers, but mainly hoppy. Nice flavor dominated by hops, starts a with a citrus/fruity flavor before the hops take over. Really easing drinking and quite enjoyable. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Apr 18, 2009 Bottle. Golden with small head. Hoppy with some flowery undertones. Medium
body with plenty of hops. Not as outstanding as some of their other brews but still pretty decent. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Apr 13, 2009 pours a dark tan colour, light murk, with a grade A foam edition, great great lacing.. . very easy to drink but no real sweetness .. needs more backing to it .. what have i told you about swapping sexual favours for cough syrup.. . also maybe slightly needs more complexity..you’ll get nothing and like it! ..Overall: nice to try but at $10 for a bomber, not really worth it in this day and age, but still good .. ozzy osbourne and his entire family really need to die in a horrible car wreck ... Hazy deep orange, small head, Big sweet malty aroma - rye bready. Pleasant carbonation. Toffee and fruitcake, or is it lemon cheesecake, while it’s in the mouth. Some sherbet, but it never loses its touch with its malty roots. Perhaps a bit kiddy with the sweet sherbet-citrus profile, but certainly quite fun. The clear bottle is a crime, -1 overall for that. Sherbet citrus decays into nettles over time. Good to the bottom of the (small) glass.
