mreusch (442), Olathe, Kansas, USA May 8, 2008 500ml bottle, with thanks to the bonus king, Tyler (tytoanderso)! Pours a bright gold-orange with a sizable frothy off-white head, good lacing. Aroma is full, with citrus, grapefruit and pine. Flavor has a nice hops bite, with more pine and citrus, balanced against caramel malts. A very crisp, refreshing and quaffable APA (IPA?) that would be nice to have around all summer. Well done again, Mikkeller, and thanks again Tyler!
blutt59 (628), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 21, 2008 bottle, dark orange pour with nice foam, nose is all bready malts and pine, flavor is pine and citrus with a malty strawberry finish mabel (1619), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 21, 2008 [1592-20080816] 1pt0.9floz bottle. Bit of peat and earth and heavy yeast flavour with light butter notes. Hazy, light brown orange body with quick off-white bubbles. Light butter continues in the flavour with a bit of grainy malt and a bit of bitterness. Medium body. Enjoyable.
(@ Cole’s IPA Festival; Buffalo, NY) IMtheOptimator (1113), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Aug 20, 2008 Poured an effervescent orangeish golden with a fizzy off-white head. Decent yet somewhat faint aroma of some grass and light pine, with a touch of biscuit dough malt. Flavor is better, with notes of citrusy lemon and grass and piney hops, with a touch of sweet malt, though perhaps not as much as I enjoy in my favorite APAs. Overall a good APA, especially for a non-American brewer (leave it to Mikkeller, it seems). However, not the absolute best I’ve had, and I’m not convinced quite that "all others pale". I’d drink it all the time if I lived in Denmark, but I don’t feel the immediate need to go out of my way for it again here. jerc (3103), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 19, 2008 2008-08-16. Crisp orange body, modest creamy beige head<. Grassy resiny hop aroma. Similar flavour, grassy resin, light herbal character to the hops. Average palate. Pleasant but surprisingly average. Bottle, Coles IPA Festival, Buffalo
Dogbrick (2209), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 18, 2008 Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a bottle. Pours a hazy dark amber-orange color with a medium thick off-white head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing. Grapefruity hops aroma with a malty undertone. Medium, crisp body with citrus hops, pine and malt flavors balanced effectively. The finish is fresh hops and citrus with a lingering bitterness left behind. Solid APA all around.
