GAManiac (344), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 9, 2008 Pours a deep hazy golden amber with a small dense off-white head. A swirl of foam lingers around the top and retention is good. Smell is of citrus hops with a bit of grass and a fairly strong bready malt sweetness in the background. Taste is dominated by the citrus hops up front with grapefruit and lemon playing major roles. This gives way to a subtle sweet, bready malt background with strong hints of caramel which leads to the hop bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium with solid carbonation and prickly with the hop juices. This is a top-notch APA and a great beer for a warm spring afternoon. Very drinkable and highly recommended.
scoth (22), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear golden, with a medium long-lasting soapy beige head. Smells like pine and hay. Crisp and medium bodied. Nicely bitter upfront, tastes of pine resin, with sublte malt, balanced, has an interesting slightly wheat flavor, dry finish. Saveur: Goût de résineux avec une pointe de pamplemousse. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence d’agrumes en arrière goût. (Rating #1979) adm (3), Alfold Crossways, Surrey, England does not count Oct 4, 2008 Aroma is resinous, gum and retsina - definite green hop versus many Mikkeler citrussy blasts. Appearance is great - clear darm amber colour, nice lacing. Great head, but little staying power. Nice balance of astringent hops and underlying sweetness on the palate with a clean, fresh lingering aftertaste.
Very good.
