Picked up this in a growler. When I got it home it poured without much head. Smelt great. Tasted burnt coffee and malts but it wasn’t overbearing. Smooth and not too heavy. Taste got better as it warmed up a little.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2012 Growler from Mane Liquor. Pours chestnut brown with a small, light khaki head. Nose shows deep, bitter coffee balanced out by subtle vanilla. Simple but very nice and appealing. Burnt, ashy malts profile the taste with loads of bitter sweet coffee, all the while balanced. Subtle vanilla helps even it out. Goes down very easily. Palate is perfect. Not too thin or too thick. Perfect carbonation to add to the drinkability here. Very well made beer

Pours black with a small head. Sweet with a light bitterness. Aromas of vanilla and hints of molasses. Also aromas of coffee. Medium to full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Long dry finish with more coffee and vanilla.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Black color, with a thin brownish head. Very nice aroma of roasted malt and coffee, deep, penetrating. The mouthfeel is dry, with a very strong roasted malt and coffee flavor; the bitterness is quite high; there is some acidity from the dark malts, some liquorice, and a lot of roastiness in the final.
Quite monodimensional, but well brewed.

Tap at Mikkeller Bar. Pitch black. Short-lived, creamy cafe au lait foamy head. Strong coffee aroma, toasted, roasted, with notes of sweet cream, grapefruit, soy and a little licorice. Very deep massively concentrated roasted coffee flavor, with lots of bitter notes. Viscous sweetness, but the mouth feel is quite dry, almost astringent. Soft carbonation. Long dry finish.

On tap at Bier Temple, Amsterdam. Opaque black beer, small tan head. Quite a light palate, fairly dry with fine carbonation. Rich coffee, not bitter. A little lacto creamy sweetness. Minerals. Good hop in the backend. Dark chocolate. Some roast and hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Well joined up and something of a cracker.
