Smooth and light aroma. Beautiful thick appearance. Good and easy taste, not too bitter. Palate could be stronger. Overall nice summer beer at the terrace.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber into a tulip glass. Pours a dark amber, with a huge, rocky beige head that very slowly dissipates. Nose is malt with Belgian yeast notes of banana and clove. Taste is medium roast malt and faint dark fruit notes, with noticeable pepper .Finish is rather short, with a crisp hop bite. Well-balanced. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle. Unclear orange body with a big, foamy, lacing off-white head. Very nice aroma with fruit, mild malt and quite distinct funky Brett. Fine, refreshing fruity, funky, sweet malt flavor. Nice body and long lasting aftertaste. A very nice Orval clone fine balance and a perhaps a bit more hops in the flavor than the original.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle did a side by side with Orval, and an Orval clone I made with a buddy. Ours doesn’t have the same colour where as the Mikkeller version nailed it. I will however boast that we were closer on flavour. Now the review.
Pours a true copper colour, whitish head that recedes quickly to nothing, some minor clingy lace on the edges. Yeast islands left behind. Nose is spot on for Orval, crisp a little hop and spice. Tastes good, starting to sour a touch (I’ve had this longer than I should’ve for a side by side). The bitterness is nice too. Pretty damn good, but nothing beats the original.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Copper tone with a dirty yellow head that stays as a creamy layer all the way, dense lacing. Spicy and sour aroma. Taste of spice and beligan yeast. The aftertaste is a bitt bitter, like tonic water.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky deep amber orange colored beer with big white head dissolving quickly leaving lacing. Aroma has apple, toffee, barnyard and resin. Flavor is yeasty and peppery with toffee and some crisp apple. Palate is only slightly sour, thicker than medium and soft but with sparkling carbonation and stinging bitterness. Finish has heavy herbal bitterness. Aftertaste is resinous, almost licoricy, yeasty and peppery, plus slightly soapy. To me it’s more modern than Orval. Anyway, a decent crisp sourish Belgian ale.

On tap at Three Floyds. Poured amber with beige head. Funky tart aroma like a sour. Light carb med bod. Tastes barnyard very dry. Not as sour as aroma lets on.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma of fruits, malt, yeast, Brett funk, peppery notes, fresh hops. Flavour is light sweet with a wonderful moderate to medium bitter finish. I love Orval and this is certainly a nice approximation.
