A bit tart then barley calms it down. Dark ruby color with pillowy cream colored head. Copper tones after a tangy hibiscus champagne start.

Deep orange looks with incredibly fluffy and big head which floats like an iceberg on top of this beer. Beautiful. Scent is so sour and good! Bretta-yeast brings these green sour apple flavors and there is some citrus hops to balance the sourness. Sour apples are present in the taste too. Yeast dominates the flavors but not overpowering other flavors such as drying citrus hops and peppery spiciness. Full body and medium-to-high carbonation. Very pleasant surprise! Magnificent beer.

Mikkeller.

Spectacular coppar colour. Head is small and not as wild as Orval. Looks more like a fresh Orval though, but that color is just amazing. Peppery nose, obvious brett, farmhouse. Some leather. Finish is brett but also some hop bitterness with spices and herbs. Really well made and I can only imagine how good this will age in 3-4 years.

Dark amber pour, with decent size head and good retention. Definitely an ode to Orval. Floral and citrus dominated, with a classic Brett influence of dry, dusty floorboards.. Hints of apple skin and bitter nut husk. Nice bitterness, without being astringent or overpowering. Balanced. Medium-light bodied, with good carbonation. DRY. Pleasant, lingering, dry, bitter citrus and florals. Surprisingly restrained and stylistically accurate for Mikkeller. Very good. Would buy again. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Picked this up from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, 24.05.13. consumed at home 29.05.13 It is getting increasingly difficult to buy Orval these days, it has been over two years since Dranken Geers have stocked it and Delhaize supermakets never ever seem to have it whenever we try them, so maybe this extremely good Orval clone from Mikkeller is my fall back. It has the saison like nose, in the mouth the bitterness runs and runs, much like a young Orval but perhaps a little more, the yeastiness is wonderful, I believe they have managed to uses Orval yeast here it is wonderful. orange/amber, touch hazy with a large forthy off-white head, nIce and dry initially and then the bitterness, mmhh... I like this a lot, I looked back at my old Orval rating and realised to my shame that I rated it years ago and gave it 3.5 when clearly it is well over a 4+, I must re-rate that beer and this isn’t far behind, love it! Just typing this from memory, I’ve had this one a few times now, just forgot to write it up. One of my favourite from Mikkeller. Soft, creamy mouthfeel, lots of flavour with a hint of sweetness.

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2013 Pours dark cloudy copper. Off white foam head. Nose of mango, banana sweet bubblegum. Medium carbonation. Sweet taste with minimal bitterness but sweetness is not overpowering. Creamy on the palate with slight dry finish. Best Belgian type ale. Nice

Ambré. Belle mousse dense. Nez: brett. Levure sauvage. Houblon. Sûre. Florale. Bouche: sucré. Sèche. Un peu mince. Bien houblonné. Florale. Bonbon/sucre en poudre. Bien réussi. Très similaire à la Orval.
