3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Typical "chuck in a brett cube" horseblanket hints in aroma. Buttery. Rather a boring ale. Reminds me of the Architecture - they’re dangerously similar. Blah

Look; off white head, clear amber body. Aroma; some sour fruits, malts, grass, banana. Taste; hops, sour banana, roasted malts - leading to a fruity finish. On palate okay, good body. Overall; special. [33cl brown btl,abv6.8%, 11.2°, B@Vinmonopolet 9020 N]

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy orange to beige. Hoppy nose with brettanomyces yeast, alcohol (Jenever) and citrus. Tastes very bitter, dry, alcoholic and herbs with a sour aftertaste. Only an Orval impression in the aftertaste.... After a while, as the beer warms, I get more ripe fruits aroma, the bitterness is milder and indeed the Orval impression gets stronger

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle@Mikkeller tasting room, Copenhagen. Amber color, full off-white head. Complex aroma with sour notes. Flavor follows after with lemon and hay. Good balance. Very close to Orval, but more hops in the profile. Nice!

Bardzo ciekawe i oryginalne. W smaku podobne do Barley Wine, cho? oczywi?cie ?agodniejsze. Nadaje si? tylko do powolnego spo?ywania ;)

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a hazy orangish amber with a huge soapy head that lingers throughout. Horseblanket, hay, cheese, lemon, tangerine, wood and some pear all over the nose with the barnyard smells really standing out. Maybe some lacto in there as well on the nose. Taste is fairly similar with a little tartness. As it warms a woodsiness comes to the front and becomes a little overbearing at times. This is very Orval like, but not as good as the original but a nice tribute nonetheless.

Old rating rerated 25.07.2015, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh, mild brett, old horse blanket, sweaty cheese, grass, citrus peel, minerals, weeds, paper. Taste is slightly dry and harsh, weeds, mild brett, bark, hay, old citrus peel, horse blanket, grass, paper. Medium bitterness, slightly watery and dry harsh mouthfeel. Fair enough.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle at home. Strong, thick white to beige collar on a blonde, even amber brew. This hazy ale has sharp carbonation, sharp hops and sharp hay aromas. It makes me think of citrus and spices too. The taste is full-mouthed, very powerful too. Beautiful subtle malts, some garden spices I cannot really pinpoint. The bitterness is solid and resembles a stout beer: Think of the roast and the peppery features. The fizzyness, dryness and bold yeast hint at an Orval trappist - it does! -, the sweetness is beautifully balanced. I would not say this beer has no sourness, but it really lingers at the background. A nice Mikkeller brew, for sure!
