[on tap at EBF 2008] Bubblegum dark malt aroma with a hint of vanilla and not much else. Opaque, viscous black with a thin brown cover and thick ring. Very salty from excessive hopping rate along with a strong dark malt bitterness. Coffee and mocha notes. Tangy and salty feel from tons of hops--really overboard. Medium carbonation, sweet finish with a touch of lasting dark malt bitterness.

På fad til ølfestivalen. Sort med et lyst brunt skum med bobler. Den er godt ristet med masser af kaffe, tørrede frugter, lakrids og godt med alkohol. Varmer godt og godt humlet i eftersmagen. Godt karboneret.

Draught (EBF2008) - thanks someone!
Pitch black, tiny head. Great hoppy aroma. Well-balanced burnt malty taste. Loads of hops and super-tasty. Does hint towards its strength, but forgivably so. (I can’t think of many apart from Black Albert which would be both stronger and subtler, TBH.)

Bottle. High creamy lasting and good looking dark brown head. No light coming through this pitch black body. Powerful coffee choccolate aroma with a good deal of alcohol, not too much though, a good deal of hops, vanilla and woody notes as well. High carbonation, strong coffee choccolate alcohol flavor with long lasting hops bitterness. Would not have guessed the alcohol percentage but it does feel a bit too strong in the flavor.

[EBF @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Average brown creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma of oak, vanilla, berries, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt. Quite full bodied with an average carbonation and thick mild dry alcoholic texture. Heavy bitter and sweet flavor in balance. Lingering roasted malt and floral hoppy finish.
