Draught at EBF 2008, Copenhagen, Denmark. Clear medium to dark black color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, coffee, peat, iodine. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is soft - flat. 25 cl bottle received in trade from Theis poured a translucent black with a lasting brown head. Aromas of oak, charcoal, vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, licorice and a hint of fruittiness. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a dry warming finish. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, oak, vanilla, licorice and dark fruit with a smooth dry warming lingering roasty finish. This was a very impressive tasty Imperial Stout! I wish I had more.

On tap at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Black, with a small brown head. Chocolate, sugar, more chocolate, coffee and hops in the aroma. Really lovely and big. Very sweet flavor with alcohol, piney hops, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Finishes in the same way and lasts for quite a long time. Full-bodied, almost sticky sweet and warming in the mouth. A really complex and big beer, maybe qualified for a 4.6 rating. Gorgeous. (080912)

Sampled with beerbiker and stepdad, thanks for a great evening! Black! Roasted malty aroma with some fruity notes, honney and port wine. Thick thick moutfull. Lots of fruity sweetness in the flavor aswell along with roasted and burned malt and coffee notes. Great coffee finish and overall just very very complex. My favorite in the 6-pack.

250. Thanks, Thewolf! Jet black with a few burnt brown bubbles. Sweetish plummy vanilla nose. Body’s not much above medium. Creamy. Plum, vanilla, and roast on the mid-palate. Sweet finish of medium duration. Delicious, complex, and interesting.

Bottle 0,25l shared with Rune. Thanks. Black as coal. A large fluffy mocca colored head. Inviting aroma of sherry and alcohol. Fruity overall impression with the alcohol shining through. Surprisingly easy to drink. No bitterness.

250ml bottle bought at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Dark as black coal. Initial brownish head with round dimples. Smell of dark fruits and malt - the aroma could be described as dark grapefruit. Flavoured with dark fruits in gently interplay with sweet, milk chocolate sustained by underlying alcohol. Nice and lingering endnotes. Full bodied. Heavy stuff (shared with Finn, Tromsø 13.10.2008).

It’s pitch black with a huge, nougat colored, creamy and lasting head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, fruity hops, oak and port wine. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour has a light sweetness and a light, roasted bitterness and notes of dark fruits, oak, warming alcohol, hop pellets, a little ash, caramel, coffee and sweet licorice. The finish is very long with notes of coffee and a light, slightly dry bitterness. It’s a very complex and nice beer.
