Bottle shared by Jay at the post NotB tasting, thanks! Poured black with a dark brown head that lasted throughout the beer. Aroma had a pretty strong coffee note with some roasted malts and a bit of chocolate as well as a light hint of bourbon. Flavor had smooth roasted malts with a strong coffee note but not much bourbon. Wish the bourbon would have come out a bit more on the tongue.

Bottle that I took to the hotel tasting after Night of the Barrels at EBF. Pours a deep black with a thin tanned beige head. Chocolate, coffee, light booze. Big chocolate, toast, coffee, but not much of the barrel. Plenty of roast though, chewy chocolate, pudding. Long roast and chewy chocolate brownies on the finish.

500ml Bottle: Aroma of malt, smoke, light tar, light chocolate, light coffee, roasting, slight bourbon, slight oak, slight charcoal, and slight hops. Poured pitch black in color with a large, creamy, dense, brown head that diminished a little, but generally lasted throughout. Opaque. Very good lacing. Excellent lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malt, roasting, coffee, smoke, smoked meat, smoked cheese, slight vanilla, slight wood, hops, and light chocolate. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, charcoal, smoked meat, burnt coffee, finish is lightly dry. 7.5%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Tasted this at Hunaphuís release. Iíve had a bunch of Mikkeller beers, not a lot of barrel aged oneís, but this one was sort of just like the original version. A little bit of oaky flavor, but it didnít really wow me all that much. Iím glad I was able to try it though.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2011 Originally at Hunahpu Day 2011, 500ml bottle, great frothy head, not a ton of aroma for a bourbon barrel aged brew, really kinda disappointed with this one, nice for a stout. Very disappointing if you consider it an Imperial.
Had this later on, pours the same frothy head, sweet vanilla aroma, a bit of chocolate, and roasted coffee. Smooth with a nice bit of bourbon vanilla and hotness coming out. I donít know if my palate was just dead when I tried it before, but this is dang delicious.

0.5l bottle @ Naboen, Bergen. Quickly fading tanned head with a near black body. Aroma is distinct vanilla, somewhat faint roasted malts, coffee and of course some bourbon, not much though. Surprisingly light-bodied / light drinkable and medium carbonation. Really nice profile with lots of roasted flavors hand in hand with coffee, vanilla, hops and a sweetness from the bourbon. Smooth as hell, nicely balanced and quite good!

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2011 Bottle with baby streets and grandpa. Pours pitch black with nice off white lacing that sits atop my beer the entire time. Aroma is coffee, roast, chocolate and espresso. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy notes of chocolate, espresso, coffee, vanilla.

500ml bottle, US version - reads "Barrel Aged Breakfast", listed at 7.5% ABV.
Pours pitch black with an enormous mocha head that leaves insanely good lacing on the way down to a thick cap of foam.
Aroma is heavily roasted malts, bakers chocolate and only hints of sweet vanilla and bourbon notes. There is some coffee but itís swept away by the toasted oak character and an interesting, almost chalky, chocolate presence.
Taste has more of a typical bourbon character up front with some vanilla and oak mixed in. The backbone is heavily roasted black malts, cocoa powder and maybe some coffee, though itís faint. The finish is dominated by the toasted character and bourbon.
The mouthfeel is certainly thin for an impy stout, if thatís what weíre supposed to be comparing this too. The barrel character (more wood than bourbon) is the most prevalent characteristic.
This is a decent BA stout but the barrel really takes over the underlying beer. Iím such a big fan of the original and this is not as good for me. Would love to try the Brunch Weasel on bourbon as the base beer could stand up to the barrel. As a stout, very good; as an impy stout, OK.
