250mL thanks to CaptainCougar as a very generous gift for my wedding slash going away present (in addition to other wale beers). Pours a clearish, murky brown. Fizzing out tan head. No retention or lace. Low carbonation. Bottle did pop with some carbonation. Nose brings out toffee, red apple, moderate sausage, applewood smoke, thicker honey, then moves to some heavy black olive, tapenade, green olive and pimento, mild red apple oxidation. At certain points something like sharp brandy is most prominent. Taste is tangy, very papery, moderate honey sweetness. Palate is a bit syrupy, moderate ash. Overall interesting, but over the hill. My refuse-to-rate-beer-so-help-me-god fiance says it was pretty good, lots of tobacco in finish. Aroma has some smoke but also a lot of sugar. Finishes sweet, a bit cloying. Stickier mouthfeel. biggirlpanties: 3.2

Bottle, 25cl. A small, dense, off-white head tops a clear, copper colored body. Alcohol and lots of peat in the aroma. A bit one dimensional maybe, but very nice. The flavor too is on the peated, alcoholic side, with some lemony sourness and a fine hoppyness added. Full-bodied, a bit low on carbonation. Hoppy finish with peat. Even though it’s too much on the peated side, I normally don’t appreciate that very much, it’s a fine beer I wouldn’t mind having again. 110930

Pours a clear and reddish brown beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is malt, caramel, alcohol, wood, dried fruit, smoke, whisky and weak notes of peat. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with some smoke and alcoholwarmth. Overall a good and complex beer.

Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is smoke, oak, alcohol, whiskey and light fruit. Flavour is alcohol, smoke, whiskey fruit, toffee and roasted caramel.

Cloudy brown beer with a decent creamy looking tan head. Softish palate. Sweet and strong with well balanced smoky malt. Aniseed alcohol is present but smooth and well integrated. Finishes with more sweet smoke. A full on smoke beer - but would you expect anything else from Mikkeller? Very nice.

Bottle. Red amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is smoked, alcohol, wood, roasted malt. Flavour is smoked, alcohol, roasted malt, hop, wood. Full body. Very nice beer.

Bottle. Pours deep amber with an off-white. Aroma of burnt wood, ash, roasted malt,caramel and burnt wood. Medium body, soft carbonation. Really nice.

Pours cloudy dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, oak, smoke, bacon and berries or brett. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, light to medium bitter with a long oak, smoke and alcohol finish. Body is full, texture is oily to sticky, carbonation is soft.
