Bottle 25cl. @ home.
Unclear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, carame, dark berry, raisin, prune, moderate to heavy smoke, burnt plastic, chimney smoke. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration. It is okay because of the sweet flavor and alcohol. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20081119]

25 cL bottle. Pours hazy deep brown with a lacing off-white head. Dense smoked aroma with a herbal note. tarish. Flavour is solid caramel malty with a light acidic note and more smoke coming through in a tarish way. Growing acidic note that seems rather disharmonious to the good smoke notes. Bitter and acidic finish. Smells nice but the flavour really puts me off.

Entered to celebrate my rating numer 21,600. Bottled. An unclear red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of beech wood smoke, bacon, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel sauce, beech wood smoke, wood, brettanomyces, and roasted malt, leading to a dry, smokey, and brett’y finish, where the alcohol also makes its presence known by tickling the tongue.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2010 Bottle 25 cl. Slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Intense smoky aroma of burned plastic and phenols. Solid body, sweet caramel and massive smoked notes of burned plastic. Not much bitterness but a solid alcohol burn. 300809

Bottle at home. Clear red brown coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Sweet and smoked aroma of caramel and smoke with notes of peat and dreid fruits. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits, smoke and sherry with notes of alcohol. Smoked and warming alcoholic finish.

Bottled. brown colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is smoked mals, licorice, and mild alcohol. Flavour is toffee, licorice, smoke and some alcohol. When warm it gets quite alcoholic in all ways.

Bottled. Hazy amber, small head. Rich medicinal rauchmalz aroma. Medium sweet with and aggressively flavourful. Oak collides with smoke and sugar. There are evident medicinal notes. A warming and potent beer that certainly stands out in the typical Mikkeller fashion. By far not my favourite from the though.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber/brown color with a small off-white head. Has a malty smoky aroma with some hints of caramel and oak. Sweetish malty caramel flavor with some hints of smoke and some hints from the barrel. Has a sweetish malty smoky oaky finish.

Cloudy brown beer with a decent creamy looking tan head. Softish palate. Sweet and strong with well balanced smoky malt. Aniseed alcohol is present but smooth and well integrated. Finishes with more sweet smoke. A full on smoke beer - but would you expect anything else from Mikkeller? Very nice.

The dark amber flow becomes dark brown in the large Mikkeller glass; the medium sized foam reduces quickly to a thin layer. Nice smoke aroma, not fat like the Aecht Schlenkerla, more delicate, with an impression of sausages (sour smoke), paper and vanilla. Good body strength, sweetish caramel flavor; immediately the alcohol is too strong; some sweet liquorice, sourish smoked sausage, light chemicals. The final is too burning.
I like sweet beers, I like smoked beers, this one is a bit confused.
