Deep black with a thick tan head. Aroma is strong smoke, reminiscent of a barbecue pit. Really reminds me of sitting outside by the smoker at my favorite BBQ joint. Flavor is huge smoke, almost overwhelming until it turns slightly sweet at the end. I can see why they called this Beer Geek Bacon (my bottle said Rauch Geek Breakfast), the flavor reminds me a little of really smoky bacon that has been cooked a little longer than necessary. But what would be a burnt flavor for bacon works to this beer’s favor. My only complaint is that the body is a little thin, but the huge flavor largely makes up for it. Hard to pair with food, this seems like something to drink after dinner, even smoked meat could be overwhelmed by it. Overall, excellent beer and quite unique, one of the better and stronger flavored smoked beers I’ve had. While not something I would pick up regularly, it’s definitely something worth experiencing.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with small to average, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Slighty ephemeral, smoky aroma in bacon direction, hints of oak, oak ashes, smoked Mettwurst (Rauchenden), at first disguised chocolately dark malty background, some coffee. Taste has a cautious smoky touch only in the very first beginning, then the "standard" ’Beer Geek’ takes over: roasty dark malty, notes of coffee and chocolate, some bitterness, some sweetness. Soft palate, mild carbonation supports the bitter notes, super long lasting finish. Hoped for more bacon presence.

Bottle@köbenhavn. Black. Roasty tarry espresso beany black salty with something.. bit beef jerky. Med bodied, bit oily, thin with an ashy roasty finish. A really dark beer. Isn’t as huggy-warming as ris’es, but almost the same intensity. The ashy finish isn’t too nice, otherwise quite ok.

Pitch black appearance with dark beige ring of foam. Smoky aroma, bacon and coffee. Bitter espresso/dark chocolate finish. Not very easy to drink, but very interesting.

11.2 bottle. Black with brown one finger head. Coffee and smoked bacon aroma. Taste starts with coffee and ends with that smoked bacon. Wonderful beer.

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar SF. Pours a pitch black with a thick tanned head. Nose is bacon and coffee. Wow so much smokey bacon. Taste is like chewing through a bacon factory... If that even exists. Dry espresso and bitter dark chocolate in the finish. Pretty damn good stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl in teku. Pours a sugar cane brown small to medium sout dense head, really impenetrable deep black colour, black leather like. Big smoked stout, roasted coffe, cocoa aroma, heavily smoked meat like. Roasted, coffee, licorice, dark cocoa taste; has a bit of initial sour-sweetness which turns into a medium bitter and smoked long finish; quite very hoppy. Slick and oily texture, flat to soft carbonation, medium bodied, little astringency. Nice one, but still prefer the BeerGeek Breakfast

"i wanted to love this one, but it ended up being a little much (to be considered great anyway). No way could I have drank/enjoyed the bottle myself. Big and heavier than the BG Breakfast base. No alcohol apparent but thick roasted chocolate, coffee, lots of smoke and a hint of bacon. Didn’t dislike anything, but together it fell short of elite like BGBreakfast or Brunch."

Bottle, 330ml. A dark beer with a medium size foamy brown head. It has a smoked aroma of bacon. Bacon! Taste is bitter and has a heavy smoked character. There is some faint carbonation and considerable astringency. Aftertaste reminds me a lot of bacon, of course, as well as roasted malt. I have tasted another bacon beer, the Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen, but I think this is better.

Bottle, 33cl. Almost opaque black with a large, frothy brown head. Deep smoky aroma. Medium to heavy bodied with moderate carbonation. Strong smoked malt character with a slight acidic edge. Very pleasant.
