Deep black with a thick tan head. Aroma is strong smoke, reminiscent of a barbecue pit. Really reminds me of sitting outside by the smoker at my favorite BBQ joint. Flavor is huge smoke, almost overwhelming until it turns slightly sweet at the end. I can see why they called this Beer Geek Bacon (my bottle said Rauch Geek Breakfast), the flavor reminds me a little of really smoky bacon that has been cooked a little longer than necessary. But what would be a burnt flavor for bacon works to this beer’s favor. My only complaint is that the body is a little thin, but the huge flavor largely makes up for it. Hard to pair with food, this seems like something to drink after dinner, even smoked meat could be overwhelmed by it. Overall, excellent beer and quite unique, one of the better and stronger flavored smoked beers I’ve had. While not something I would pick up regularly, it’s definitely something worth experiencing.

Bottle from a Chicago trip. Pours a black great color with a dark chocolate milk colored head. Thick head that never fully settles. A big smokey aroma with hints of chocolate and bacon. A nice chocolate touch upfront. A nutty vanilla flavor as the smoke takes over towards the end. Feels a bit thin but overall nice.

330 ml botle from AmmersinO, Vienna.
Black, oily liquid, with a medium, dense, creamy, tan head.
Aroma of bacon, dry coffee, smoked wood, dark chocolate, liquorice.
Taste follows this, but with the bacon not as dominant.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation.
Finishes strong roasty-bitter, dry, smokey, wooden.

Tasty! A pretty challenging, strong, dry, roasty Stout, with the smokey bacon notes well integrated. The taste doesn’t fully keep up with the nose in my opinion, but still excellent stuff! I prefer the standard Beer Geek Breakfast much more though.

Bottle @ Mikkeller Bar, SF. Pours thick brown black, zero head. Mocha nose, not very smokey. Big espresso flavour, subtle Rauch, dry finish. Full & rich, but where's the bacon?

Poured from bottle into tulip. Medium head that quickly dissipated. Taste of moderately strong smoke, moderate Bitterness and roast, and not much coffee. I enjoyed the smoked aspect of the beer, but the rest was mediocre.

One of my favorite smoked beers. Smokey wood and roasted malt aroma. My bottle was older and before the name change so the flavors had really blended. Nice dark stout color with a full and oily palate. Smokiness throughout with strong roasted flavors and a hops bittetness on the finish. Fine work.

Et Mikkeller réussit à me séduire à nouveau. Nope! Vaut mieux en boire!

33cl bottle at Pudel, Tallinn. Pours very dark brown with a dissipating beige head. Deliciously roasty and smoky aroma with dark roasted coffee, dark, bitter chocolate, dark fruits and hints of spices and hops. Sweet, but very well balanced with delicious flavours af coffee, chocolate and notes of smoke. Simply delicious and excellent as a winter warmer. Nice dessert beer.
