500mL - Rauch Geek Breakfast - bottle. Pour is jet black with a smallish tan head that falls away rather quickly leaving a thick ring of lace around the rim of the glass. Aroma is smoky, malty, dark roasted coffee and chocolate with a touch of caramel. Flavor up front is vanilla, caramel, chocolate followed by smoked bacon, peated malt and dark coffee in the finish. Over all an incredible, complex stout, creamy, smoky, what a treat and for my $$ right on the money.

Bottle (Rauch Geek) and served in snifter: Pours a very deep brown with a mostly lasting head and good lace. Fair amount of roast, cold pressed coffee and resiny hops with faint smoke oats on the nose. The smoke shows a tad more in the chalky and slightly metallic palate. Thinner mouthfeel but that is expected from a coffee stout. Overall it is really meh... Like regular Beer Geek Breakfast much more. The hop character in this beer is too dominate.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Coal black with small light brown head. Aroma is coffee, medium body, syrupy texture, medium/light carbonation, and some very small bubble lacing. Taste is some roasty, smoke, ash, and nice coffee finish. More smoke as it warms.

Bottle (330 ml). Dark brown with a small beige head and little lacing. Aroma is of smoke, ashes, roasted malt, light peated presence and hints of salt. Taste is roasty with smoke, ashes, peated notes, light sweetness and a light salty finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Smokey finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Not easy to drink because of a little lack of balance. Tasty. The smoke has no "depth", unlike Schlenkerla’s beers... they aren’t in the same league anyway.

Aroma is mostly bacon and rich malts. Slightly smokey aswell. Taste is a rich maltiness that actually finishes very smooth. Slightly tarty finish. Appearance is black with a thin beige head that retains fairly well.

As Rauch Geek Breakfast. Inky black with quiet brown head. Aroma is subtle smoke, coffee, chocolate. Smoke is more potent once you take a sip. And that taste is a big one - lots of espresso. Relatively dry for such a big beer, and quite bitter. Bitter finish is perhaps excessive.

330ml bottle from Brewdog online shop. Thick tan head, good lacing, body is black. Nose is full of well cooked smoky bacon, a little hint of liquorice. Flavour is smoky roasted coffee and chocolate, charcoal, more smoke on the finish. Mouthfeel is rich and creamy, very little carbonation. Great stuff. Did I mention smoke?

Drunk 09/08/14 with cam on his new balcony after a days slog in the flat. we were both pumped up and sweaty, but thankfully had this beer to share and cut through the turbulent undercurrent of raw sexual energy between us. it pours a lacy black, with a thick frothy tan head. it smells great- really big smoked bacon aroma, with coffee, dark chocolate. the taste is roasty malts, burnt sugar, bit of coffee and choco bitterness. its dry with low fizz but its got a milky creamy thickness to it as well. so tastyyyyy. beers like this are turning me onto stouts more and more

Bottle on the balcony shared with Tino after a long days graft. Pours black with a stunning brown crema that leave a luxurious lacing and doesn’t break down. Aroma of coffee and bacony Bamberg. Flavour is robust with an even hand shown to the smoke and the coffee. Lovely thickness to it as well. D-Lish.
