Bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting. Thnx for the awesome day, folks! This bottle was shared by Beerlover_ben .
Pours jet black, good dark head. Smell is sharp bourbon, anis notes. Taste is grainy, mildly bitter bourbon. Oaky, bit peppery as well. Some roasted grains. OK mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer is fantastic. Coffee but not burnt, chocolate but not bitter, dark but not biting. Sip or gulp, this is a deliciously smooth oatmeal stout. It moves from the front of the tongue to the middle, with flavor from beginning to end. Delicious....that is all you need to know.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Pours pitch blak and a huge creamy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, chocolate, licorice and bourbon. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry, with alcohol and slightly bitter. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and soft carb.. The finish is bitter and again with roasted malt. An excellent Stout.

500 ml bottle to snifter (October 2009 vintage shared with the crew; thanks DuffMan). Looks good; fairly opaque dull lack with mocha head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; dark malt and dark chocolate with notes of oak and a bit of bourbon. Tastes like it smells, but not as balanced. Average on the palate. Enjoyable.

50 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a lot of sediment and a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and bourbon - with a slightly bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared with Ian and others. Dark brown with a rather lively light brown head. Aroma features coffee and roast with slightly boozy bourbon notes and light spice. Hard roast backbone, with more bourbon than barrel traits, if that makes any sense. This oddly is less full bodied than the original (we drnk them side by side), and for a bourbon barrel impy comes up short in the integration of flavours. Still a pleasure, but I prefer the original BGB.
