4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 Foffern (772) - Bodø, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2013
Bottle shared with (and great courtesy of) the Bergen tasting crew. Pours a black colour with a small light beige head. Powerful aroma of liqueur, bourbon, spices, coffee, oak, roasted malt and hint of white sage. Nice. The flavour has more roasted malt and bourbon and nice coffee touch. Has a rich and slick mouth feel, and a light to medium bitterness. A great and complex beer with a nice touch of bourbon.

Bottle. Lots of bourbon in the nose, kind of acidic notes. Taste full: loads of bourbon, dark sugar, coffee, chocolate
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sammy (7115) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 25, 2012
A bourbon nose, but understated Bourbon in the taste. Roast, an interesting roast, chocolate, engine oil. Smooth, above average mouthfeel. Well integrated. Gelatin thickness.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 rarbring (705) - Linköping, SWEDEN - OCT 30, 2012
Aroma: The smell is fudge with nuts and vanilla, almond, but also some saw dust and alcohol. Appearance: The beer is black, with a brown rather modest head, leaving little lacing. But good curtains. Taste: The beer is sweet, dried fruits, figs and dates, some wood and bourbon character is noted, as well as a licorice nuance. Palate: Medium carbonation, warm, oily and complex body. Overall: A bit sweet, but a very lovely dessert beer (not really breakfast I dare say). Note: Bottle - Tasted at a beer sampling at De Klomp, Linköping, Sweden. Reviewed 2010-09-04.

March 9, 2012 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel. 500ml bottle c/o ("I am NOT dripping!"). Nearly opaque brown-black with a smallish creamy light brown head. Aroma - some sweet bourbon and dry oak in there, but thankfully it’s mostly a great imperial stout: dry, deep coffee/chocolate roast, alcohol, quite herbal, a bit lactic, not sweet or fruity at all (8+). Taste follows, terrific balance, it’s creamy and strong but not boozy - nutshell and tons of coffee, enough to shove the damned bourbon way into the background. Slightly thick and definitely creamy and frothy mouthfeel, lively but not sharply so, finishes deeply roasty with appropriate alcohol and bitterness - a fine example of how to do a restrained bourbon finish on a beer. Excellent stuff, although I prefer the "regular" version.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 dlinn (146) - Denver, Colorado, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Chocolate mint aroma. Sweet nose, mint chocolate flavor yields to a coffee finish.

Bottle at Dan’s, pour courtesy of Aaron. Thanks Man! Pour is pitch black with a small brown head and decent lacing. Light chlorine, peat, smoke, pee water, light cocoa, and nail polish in the aroma. Taste is very peaty, bourbon, roast, espresso, mint chocolate chip, smoke, and dark chocolate. Sticky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Somewhat offensive, but still drinkable. Not really my thing.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 arminjewell (4206) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 3, 2012
Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks to Aaron for the pour! Thick black pour with nice tan head, aroma has notes of chlorine, hints of sour vinegar, hints of coffee, old sewer drainage, not good. Taste is a mix of sweet and minty earth, chocolate touch of bourbon, hints of earth, sewage. Not very good.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, picked up at De Molen. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a brown head that dissipates pretty quickly. Quite spicy, cardamom, light caramel, mild juicy whiskey, cookie aroma. Starts out a bit boring caramel/chocolate flavor and then explodes with whiskey, anise, chocolate, roasty malty deliciousness. I was a bit disappointed at first but it really turns into a delicious caramel/toffee/whiskey/chocolate goodness.
