3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 after4ever (4308) - Brier, Washington, USA - JAN 18, 2012
500, capped and gold-waxed. Thanks, Rene! Pours jet black and viscous with just a bit of wispy burnt tan head--and what head there is doesn’t really hang around for all that long. Big rich vanilla oaky nose, especially when it’s still chilled. Complex and dimensional dark chocolate around that, with peat and biting idoine phenols poking through. Much richer and darker notes from the whisky than you might expect from a speyside--if they’re coming from the whisky, that is. As it warms the nose gives over to a sweet pruney soy sauce. Slightly sticky medium body with virtually no carbonation. Toasted malt, roastiness, chocolate, oaky vanilla, peat, and iodine on the mid palate. Really a wonderful combination. Salty strong pruney finish.

Massive Mikkeller pt. 2 Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy, you rock brotha! From all the treatments of breakfast that I’ve tried this one smelled and tasted the best. Good amount of bourbon, chocolate, and fudge in both aroma and flavor. Good carbonation for this style.

2009 Vintage 50 cl. bottle shared @ New Years Eve @ friend’s house – courtesy of me – purchased @ Alvinne – chilled on the balcony instead of the fridge – served in wine glasses: pours an oil black with somewhat surprisingly no head whatsoever, smell is mostly pure ice coffee with some malt & chocolate for good measure, taste is once again lots of ice coffee, mellow roasted malt, touch of dark fruits, chocolate, the whisky itself is surprisingly light, you really have to go looking for it otherwise you might not even find it, occasional aftertaste of good whisky berried somewhere in the back underneath the ice coffee pops up, no alcohol taste, I have tried a regular vintage Beer Geek breakfast (albeit a touch older) & the difference is small to say the least, major difference is that the body feels a bit fuller here & has a nicer, once again ice coffee structure, low carbonation as is stipulated on the bottle, pointless barrel aging as I am getting almost nothing here, certainly not bad but you might just as well get the regular version especially as this is ridiculously overprized

Bottle thanks to someone who slips my mind. Pours black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of coffee and roasted malts with some backing peat and dark chocolate. Flavor starts has backing peat throughout with roasted malt and a hint of dark bread.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Nightfall (1231) - Hamburg, GERMANY - NOV 23, 2011
During Mikkel’s and Thomass’ visit in Athens, Oct 2009. I am a big fan of the original BGB and really wanted to try this. Teh carbonation level is very low, apart fro mthe characteristic BGB aromas and flavours, the beer has gained a lot on peated smoke aroma and flavours, wood notes a slight touch of speyside whiskey flavor (I expected it to be more). All in all a great beer.

bottle... light black body, oily looking no head... the aroma is fantastic, peat, light coffee and fudge brownies... the taste is too light and I prefer the highland brunch but this nose is much better, the front is light coffee a bit dead with a peat finish, the finish is a bit flat as well... good not great
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 blafa (447) - Helsingborg, SWEDEN - NOV 17, 2011
Sampled at SBWF. Stockholm, September 29th, 2011.
Aroma of coffee, dry paper, pears, vanilla, smoke and salt. Chocolaty in the taste with the noticeable vibe that all mikkeller beers got - A vibe I’ve learned to love. The beer is not really balanced but it’s fun and experimental which I value just as much.
