Bottle shared by TheCaptain, thanks a ton Mark. This guy poured black with a thin khaki coating of head. Lots of roasted notes, cereal, coffee, and chocolate. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Delicious. Great way to end your 4th of July party Captain!

16.9 oz. bottle. Pours a dense black with a large, luscious, light brown head that lasted beyond mid-glass and left a patchwork of lace on the glass. The aroma is superb with tons of rich chocolate and fresh coffee along with just a bit of roasted malt. The flavor is much more heavily dominated by coffee than the aroma. Its still quite nice, but much more one-sided. Fresh coffee with roasted malt, tobacco and some chocolate. Bitter coffee finish. An enjoyable beer, albeit a bit expensive at $13/bottle.

Bottle. From my pilgrimage to Whitefish MT. Pours a very deep brown, but not black, very dense and dark, light cannot penetrate it. Head is big, cappuccino-colored, and sticky. Nose is very roasty, with coffee, ash, oats, a savory woodsmoke note in there too. Palate is very coffeeish, nice mouthfeel, good acidity, nice fluffy ash character in the finish. Flavors of roast malt, smoke/hung meat. Absolutely no metallic or alcohol character at all. I find myself very susceptible to any metallic notes in a beer, especially dark beers. For this to have none is saying something for me. Very nice, glad I bought 3, but not my favorite stout.

Bottle thanks to matt7215 via trade. Held on to this one since march ’09. Pours black even when held up to the light. The head is huge and rocky. It clings to the glass and is a beautiful brown. Aroma is of oats, smoke, chocolate, and coffee. Tastes like a damn fine coffee, black, just the way I like it. Hickory smoke, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, milk, dark berries, oats, toffee, and licorice. Mouth feel is very nice. Damn fine beer. Thanks Matt!

[Bottle] Pours pitch black with a large tan head. Aroma has lots of roasted malts and coffee, and not much else. Flavor is really thin and watery, bitter roasted coffee, and somewhat acrid. Not a huge fan of this one, and I generally love oatmeal stouts.

Damn. Havent enjoyed a beer this much in a long time. Head is full and ice cream float like. Lacing is beautiful with 3 different shades after swirling.. Really small compact suds. Gorgeous. Aroma is not quite as powerful as I hoped. Definite chocolate, coffee, and roasted notes. Mouth feel is what Ive come to expect from stouts. Ive had some thin stouts and porters and this is far from them. I think Ive found my new favourite stout. However at $11? Itll have to be an indulgence.

Picked up a bottle at the Wine Stop in Honolulu, had it with Breakfast off course. Poured in a wine glass, solid black liquid with a thick espresso cream head that lasted to the very last drop. Aroma of the finest coffee, barley and bitter cocoa. I could not stop drinking this beer, more tan Outstanding, i describe this beer as "PHENOMENAL" Thank you Mikkeller!

Bottle. Brown foamy head over black body. Aroma of coffee, smoke. Long lasting head. Flavor was bacon, bbq, smoke, then finished with a hit of coffee. Nice creamy mouthfeel.
