Pours a dark brown muddy body with a thick brown frothy head. Strong, complex malty hoppy aroma with coffeeish, chocolate, and roasty hints. Alcohol is well hidden. Taste carries strong roasted coffee flavors as well as vanilla, chocolate and brown sugar notes. Ends with a long, warming bitter/roasty finish. Outstanding Stout! vtafro (469), , New Jersey, USA

Appearance: black with side of brown, dark tanned brownish head Nose: strong roasty character, bold coffee character, bit acidic, lighter leafy hops and black malt behind Flavor/Palate : Bold, very roasty with heavy dark malts. Roasty on top with ash on bottom. Slightly harsh up close. Evil brew if there is such thing.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 9, 2009 Thick, black oil in my glass with a hell of a brown head. The aroma is great; nuts, coffee, chocolate. The flavor is complex, but really, really balanced. I get the hops; lots of citrus undertones, but the malt is what is really big here. Tons of smooth coffee and chocolate.
I’ve become less and less a fan of stouts as I’ve tried beers. The burnt flavors that are present in poorly done stouts really turn me off. This was such a pleasant surprise. MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
