UPDATED: APR 12, 2011 Beuatiful pour! Black color with a fairly full, dark tan, firm, and creamy head; head is somewhat lasting leaving nice, tight lace. Nose is somewhat simple but perfectly balanced between dark chocolate notes, nicely roasted coffee beans, and a cedar hop bitterness. Other hints of smoke and burnt caramel. Flavors are similar; nice roasted bitterness of a fine coffee, balancing moderately bitter cedar hops, with only hints of dark chocolate and burnt caramels. Palate is nice; velvety smooth, soft, medium full, and flows off the tongue with a silky , dry touch. Finishes somewhat quickly leaving silky with a touch of dryness, coffee bitterness, and woody cedar notes that linger. Lacks the complexities of an imp but probably the most drinkable dark beer I’v ever had. It’s too bad I couldn’t drink this everyday for breakfast! A very balanced beer with excellent roasted coffee notes and bitter cedar hop notes. Finally available here in CO and it was worth the wait.

Choclate hop aroma, pitch black in colour with thick toffee coloured head. Big hop flavour, hint of chochlate and coffee.

Bomber thanks to xnoxhatex. Pours dark brown with a thin filmy head. Coffee yep that’s coffee in the nose. A little chocolate and earthniess. Burnt coffee charred flavors. Lightly creamy and bitter roast. Finishes with dry coffee beans. Its good. Basically a creamy cup of cold coffee.

22.3 oz bottle. Enjoyed for breakfast while watching the climb of the Galibier. Dark chocolate brown yields a small head but leaves a pretty crema ring and a thin haze. Looks rich, smells rich. Dates, coffee, concord grapes and mild woodiness. Milky body with coffee and dark fruits. Melts away with a bit of citric carb fizz and ends with dry bitter greens. Elegance becomes aggressive. Crazy good.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2007 Purchased a bomber during my visit to Oliver Twist - June ’07. What a beer! Amplified coffee aroma on the nose of this pitch black beer with beige-brown edges/head. Flavor was dominated by dark chocolate, oatmeal, and COFFEE. And even though I’m not the biggest fan of intense coffee, it seemed to work perfectly here. Super easy to drink - and the mouthfeel was very smooth. - I mean smooth smooth. Finish is moderately sweet with a touch of bitterness and roasted malts, lingering with hops, chocolate, and coffee. This thing is straight up delicious. MMMMMMMMMM, breakfast!

The bomber bottle filled a big glass with a thick, black, opaque liquid topped with a creamy brown head and there was still half of it left in the bomber. It was strong flavored, strong malt, strong coffee with a feather light hop hit. My mouth was coated and my eyes closed in ecstasy as I swallowed. It was very smooth, the head held high and the lacing coated the glass. A lip smacking delight.

Bomber, with yet another HUGE THANKS to the man - john_adam2002! Pours a syrupy dark black, super dark brown head that dissipates down to a whispy covering, good lacing. Aroma is dominated by coffee/espresso as you’d expect, but also plenty of diversity behind that - milk chocolate, vanilla, oats, molasses and a hint of dark fruits. Taste does the same; a big hit of coffee/espresso up front, but some hoppiness in the back. What seems a bit separate and distinct blends nicely as it warms. Palate is creamy and slick, average carbonation, with a medium mouthfeel and long but dry finish with some bittersweetness. This one lives to the hype quite well!

Thanks to Zathrus13 for doing the case split. Pours out black with a moderate foamy off-white head. Aroma is of coffee, roasted malt and slight hop. Creamy mouthfeel, slightly thinner than I’d expect, but nothing to negatively impact the beer. Very complex flavor, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, slight dark fruit with a dry finish. Very solid beer.

Black and strong. Lots of flavour especially, coffee and chocolate and a worderful burned finish. It has a moderate hoppy balance. I would characterise this beer to have a medium to full body,

From a bottle, thanks iowaherkeye. The body was very black with a light brown colored head. The aroma was soybeans with some milk chocolate. There was also coffee and sweet vanilla. The taste was quality coffee with some dark chocolate. There were also some prunes. This was relatively subtle for an Imperial stout. While well made, nothing about it stood out to me.
