Strangely enough the aroma doesn’t give much away, on opening the bottle there was a decent burst of coffee, touch of sourness, bitter choc etc. But once in the glass this vanished into the black hole that is the pint itself. Looks great; impenetrable darkness; lovely disappearing choc-coloured head - looks like a storm in a glass. Taste is charcole, roasted Columbian coffee, the bitterest dark choc. Finish is long earthy and acrid (in a good way) Lovely rich mouth feel, slight oilyness, wants to expand out of the mouth; chewy. Alcohol nicely hidden. Only complaint - being extra picky - a liittle more carbonated than the first batch I tried... If this beer was a woman I’d probably marry her - the way ALL Stout should be!!!

Darkness even in the foam, with a coffee metallic aroma, rich haevy flavour of coffe, and roasted malt. Heavy bitterness that lasts. Recommended.

This beer I had higher hopes for. Especially the price you pay. Mikkeller seems to charge way to damn much for their beers. This is a slightly above average stout that I will not fork over the high price for another

Bursting aroma of caramel and light chocolate. Huge rocky, off-white head. This is a cup of coffee in beer form. I like the hoppiness - it seems the grassiness of the centennials is balanced by the roast. Lingering char. Very tasty,

(bottle - 500 ml) Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Aroma is rich and roasted with tons of coffee notes. Flavor is much the same. Incredible roasted coffee flavor with a slightly sweet and malty middle. Bitter aftertaste lingers on the palate for a while and leaves a good roasted taste. Outstanding.

Pours an opaque brownish-black with a lasting brown head. Aroma is very chocolatey, sweet smelling, coffee. Nice powerful aroma. Flavor is glorious: Very chocolatey, and highly of espresso, tar, cigar tobacco, leather. Very agressive and profound flavor. Leaves the mouth coated for a long aftertaste. Booze is barely detectable. Nice thick, sticky viscosity, as well as a little fizzy. This stuff is more profound than many imperial stouts out there, forget just stouts. I love it and wish I had more. This stuff is just amazing. Overall, elite, world-class. Thanks Mikkeller.

Impressive thick (4-finger) tan head. Incredible staying power--like foam; leaves thick chunky lace. Near black where no light shines through. Semi-sweet chocolate smell. Some black patent smells in the background. Very attractive. More harsh (read: bitter) than the smell would indicate. Lots of black patent flavor. Tastes like an iced coffee with cream. Decent body with a high level of carbonation for balance. Creamy. This could be the closest thing to a perfect stout.
