Finwe (56), Grankulla, Finland Oct 28, 2009 500 ml bottle at Pikkulintu. Pours black with a tan head. Coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Some smoke in the taste along with the afore-mentioned coffee and chocolate. A burnt finish. Superb beer compared to its price. brenn79 (140), Idaho, USA Oct 24, 2009 25 oz. bottle- pours deep black with a thick tan head, be careful when you pour this, lots of carbonation in this and can cause there to be too much foam. The aroma is great, coffee, alcohol and dark chocolate, the flavor is the same, with coffee being the dominant flavor. I think this is the best beer I’ve ever had, Totally awesome. minch25 (350), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 24, 2009 Pours pretty dark, near black; medium creamy tan head. Aroma - oatmeal, coffee bean oil, licorice. Flavor - lots of roast, medium bitterness. Very creamy texture, added body / caloric value from the extra alcohol. A super stout. About as strong as a stout could be while still being enjoyable. Very very good, though still beat out by Aphrodisiaque in my book. sauceyhops (104), carlsbad, California, USA Oct 24, 2009 50 cL bottle at Stone. Black pour with 1 finger mahogany head. Roasty aroma of nuts, coffee, and campfire. Very smooth mouthfeel with burnt tones of coffee, chocolate, and smoke. Way too drinkable. I finished 2 bottles back to back. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 23, 2009 (bottle). Black color. Large tan head. Strong roasted coffee aroma and flavor. Avg duration. Smooth finish. Slick texture. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. gyllenbock (240), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 21, 2009 Bottle bought in Oslo.
Gorgeous black color with a fabulous brown foam.
Coffee and chocolate both in aroma and flavor. A little smoky tones and above all much chocolate in taste. Chocolate Milk! Really good! Surprisingly easy to drink, who knows, maybe it really is a perfect beer for breakfast? The alcohol did not feel at all. Long, long finish! Very pleasant beer. DuffMan (2721), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Oct 18, 2009 Bottle, thanks again to my inlaws! Pours a dense viscous near-black with a slow-to-rise brown head of fine bubbles. This looks like an impy! Initially the aroma is very perfumey and floral, but as it warms and settles the roastiness rolls out. Like many coffee beers, this has high vegetal overtones, but the perfuminess never completely leaves, giving this beer a very intriguing aroma. Velvety smooth mouthfeel with lots of coffee roast and a bit of char and chocolate. Very bitter roasty finish. Again, the floral quality adds this really intriguing dimension to a beautifully crafted stout. Outstanding for being more than just a coffee stout! RHSpartan (6), troy, Michigan, USA does not count Oct 15, 2009 Pours jet black with a very thick, long lasting dark brown head. Thick coffee and roast aroma. Rich malt flavor - bitter coffee finish. Medium-full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Excellent balance between the malt sweetness and the bitterness of the coffee.
