| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Bottle. Poured deep black with a medium chocolate brown head. Aroma is of sweet roasted malt, hops, coffee and maybe some chocolate. Flavor is amazing! The coffee definitely comes thru but is in no way over-powering instead it perfectly compliments the sweet roasted malt base. The coffee flavor is of a mild roast like a breakfast blend, very nice. The hops are definitely present as is some bitter chocolate. Carbonation is near perfect and the mouthfeel is silky. Excellent. By far the best coffee stout I have had so far. tpd975 (95), Riverview, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 20, 2009 A: Pours as black as any beer I have ever seen, light has no chance of penetrating this one. The head is dark mocha colored and exhibits great retention. Sheet after sheet of lace.
S: Wow this is a bold coffee stout no doubt about, though I would expect no less from Mikkeller. This one is high on the char. Bold over roasted espresso stand out. Hints of very bitter dark chocolate and a hint of vanilla.
T: Wow I like this one. This is one of the boldest coffee stouts I have ever had. Many others are all about nice light coffee. This one is about the roast. Tons of dark black coffee that has been sitting on the burner all day. Touches of chocolate and booze as well.
M: Full bodied yet easy drinking brew.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Updated: Jun 5, 2009500ml bottel from CBX. pours an absolutely gorgeous, silky, thick, jet black with a fluffy, one inch cocoa, brown head and thick lacing. aroma is wonderful with scents of milk chocolate, roast coffee, vanilla, smoke, and a hint of heath bar. flavor is one of those blown away moments and is damn near perfect. initially sweet tastes of rolled oats, cinnamon, and brown sugar give way to huge roast coffee, dark chocolate, smokey wood and a lovely hop bitterness with a hint of sour, red fruit that lends a perfect balance to this brew. finish is a great blend of bitter hops and dark, slightly nutty, roasted coffee. mouthfeel is rich, full bodied, almost creamy, with solid carbonation. overall, one of the best stouts i’ve ever had. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA

Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and dark fruit. Amazing taste of coffee, sweet malt, slight oat, dark malt, and wonderful mix between coffee and hop bitterness. Dry finish. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2009 5ooml. fills my glass with copious amounts of dust tan head. a tight, fine bead creates a frothy cap that builds so tall that it spills over the rim of my tulip. milk chocolate aromas arise from the glass to meet my nostrils, bringing with it notes of fig, plum, espresso, and deep roasted malt. faint hints of bbq, tobacco, and roast meat accompany. a sweet start gives way to a fine bitterness delivered by dark coffee and just the right amount of hops. the yin and yang of beer fully realized in my glass. just the right touch of malty sweetness is introduced before the roasty burnt bitterness swoops in to squash it. the texture is thick and creamy, and not in the least bit sticky; very clean. a rich and decadent brew this is a delicious after dinner delight! scoth (274), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Viscous pour, dark brown, black in the glass, with no light making it through even around the edges of the glass. Had a medium-sized dark-tan head and good lacing. Smells of oats, coffee, molasses, and pine. Really thick, velvety body, dry. Tastes of oats, chocolate, coffee, pine and citrus, with a medium bitter finish. It’s amazing that the hop presence is so strong in a stout this huge. A meal in a glass.
