Bottle. Jet black with nice almost brown head with good retention. Medium to full body, rather low carbonated. Intensive aroma of coffee, chocolate and caramel, with some malty notes. In taste coffee comes first, also some roasted malts, very smooth with little bit bitterness at the end. Very good and very drinkable.

Pitch black color with great brown head. Aroma has tones of fresh and roasted coffee beans, also dark chocolate. Taste is so coffee forward, intense, with espresso and fresh coffee beans as well. Great aftertaste, bitter and really marked. Nothing more to say, coffee, coffee and more coffee.

Pours black with a tan head. Coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate, oat and caramel aroma. Dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, soy sauce, earthy hop, toast and mild booze flavors. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. Cocoa, coffee and almost burn roasted malt finish.

On tap at Hopaholic. black colour with a small brown head. Nose of buckwheat, and a hint of coffee. Taste also reminds me of cooked buckwheat, although it doesnt contain any. Palate starts very watery. The beer geek series brunch was a huge hit for me, but I didnt like this one very much.

Čapované v Beer Time Nitra. Tmavá, takmer čierna farba, jemná nahnedlá pena, kávová aróma. Stredná rezkost, káva, čierna čokoláda, karamel. Dobrota. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - 2008 vintage - pours a dark brown with thin tan head . Soft coffee , cocoa aroma . Medium body with similar flavors . Not bad but I think it may have faded a bit . ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a deep black color, topped with a medium sized brown cream head, fairly lasting. Aroma is very easy to pick up, some nice chocolate notes with coffee dominating over them, though not too intrusive. Taste is gently sweet, some chocolate notes up front, gentle coffee feel and some bitterness in the finish. Very gentle but lasting roasted coffee aftertaste. Creamy and smooth, full taste but has that light feel to it. Very lovely, superbly drinkable.

From tap. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of heavy roasted malts, coffee (LOTS!), light licorice, light chocolate. Roasted malts and coffee dominates the aroma in a very pleasant way. Taste is heavy on coffee, loooots of roasted malts, quite bitter, light cocoa and chocolate, light licorice. I get notes of vanilla, which I don’t normally do in a non barrel aged stout. Super balanced, despite the heavy bitterness and the roasted malts.

I can now vouch for the fact that this Beer Geek release really does go quite well with breakfast. Breakfast pour black with about two fingers of cocoa-colored head. Aroma has a lovely ground coffee character. Flavor has bittersweet baker’s chocolate, roasted grains, and fresh, bold coffee. Feel is smooth and rich. This truly is a beer deserving of the day’s most important meal. All the better if you’re needing some hair of the dog treatment. (I’m not saying I needed it.)

Nera, densa e mediamente schiumosa.
