Darker than dark like well-used motor oil. You cant see a hint of light through this beer even if you hold it in front of a spotlight. Slight roasty coffee smell. Refreshing roasted malty taste with a good dry coffee flavored finish. I was totally impressed with this beer. The guy at our local specialty liquor store said he had a hard time getting a dependable quantity from the distributor. Not quite as good as Arrogant Bastard but pretty damn close. lassem (304), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 3, 2008 Bottle - 50 cl. A mistery why I havn´t rated this before. Yhis one is one of my all time favorites.... don´t leave home without it. Poura a pitch black with a nice foamy and lasting cappuchino-brown head. The nose is fresh with strongle amarican fruity . hoppy notes, coffee and black chocolate. The palate is smooth and creemy with a mouthfeel that pets you like a kitten. The taste is clearly oatmeal, roasted malts and lots of fresh hops and coffee with a bit of vanilla. The finish is round and bitter dominated of the cofee flavour with a little hint of alcohol Travlr (727), Washington, Washington DC, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 27, 2008 From a 22 oz bottle this poured like used motor oil and raised a rich and foam light brown head and lacing like glue. Nose of roasted malts, almost smoky. Very rich and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is powerful, with burnt malts showing chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. This stuff is a rich as it gets, and is sort of in a class by itself. Ranks up there with Speedway Stout, though it tastes very different. MJGG (404), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Arômes très invitants de café. Robe noire, mousse mocha. Belle complexité en bouche, le café et le malt torréfié accompagnent une très alléchante touche de cacao. Légère touche sucrée et l’alcool est très bien dissimulé. Très bon! mattmc1973 (302), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Bomber, pours black with a two finger frothy brown head. Aroma is weaker than I would expect, mostly of bitter roast coffee. Flavor is two one-sided for me, all bitter with none of the sweet to balance it. Mainly tastes like burnt coffee. Good carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. I guess for a pure coffee lover, you would love this. But I like coffee balanced with some sweetness. dolemite77 (184), Maryville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 21, 2008 Well deserving of high ratings... it has the oatmeal stout perfection of a sam smith oatmeal stout, with a high quality coffee flavor. As a coffee lover and a stout lover, this is almost heaven. Mouthfeel would get over a 5 rating if possible... the aroma is a little weaker than expected, which is why it got the lowest of the ratings... Flavor is roasty stout and roasty coffee blending just about perfectly.
