chmurarz (401), Raciborz now Legnica, Poland Sep 27, 2009 pours very, very handsom dark brown head, strong and fluffy, gives off strong aroma of coffie with milk, chocolate and grain. Taste - coffie just kicks you into whatever you are sitting on. It has this sweet aftertaste fo chocolate. One dimentional but who cares. It rocks And alc note like someone added some vintage liquor. Just a dessert. A littel heavy, but not too much, neither bitter, not too smoked, not too sweet, not too strong PetetheMeat (546), Hove, Denmark Sep 25, 2009 Brown, beige lasting head. Pleasant coffee aroma. More coffee in the flavour. Licorice? Acidious? Lingering on to a roasted, dry bitter finish. Overwelming/powerfull stout. LanceUppercut (105), Sweden Sep 24, 2009 A nose of tobacco, coffee and vanilla. Taste contains the same flavors plus an earthy note. Finish is roasted and has a little acidity. Palate is pleasantly oily, but a bit thin. This is a good stout, but its hardly worth the high rating. Maybe the effect of peoples affection towards its bigger brother and Mikkeller in general? Ygberg (82), Sweden Sep 23, 2009 Aroma of coffe, tobaco and sweet toffe. Apperance is dark black with medium brown head. Flavor is bitter with clear taste of well rosted coffe. Palate is very oily and nice, maybe a bit thin. Overall a very good coffe stout. Paulp (20), New Jersey, USA Sep 16, 2009 Poured very thick, dark black with a brown head, very rich roasty coffee and chocolate taste with a slight bitter finish, my first stout and the best one so far. popery (133), San Francisco, California, USA Sep 11, 2009 This is a really nice imperial stout, but, once again, I’m apparently a complete wimp when it comes to coffee stouts. The drinkability score is purely a reflection of my body’s annoying tendency to react strongly to the blending of alcohol and caffeine. At any rate, this beer pours dark and thick with a lasting mocha head. The aroma is a bit ashy and oddly mild compared to the flavor. The flavor is rich and full with big roasted malt, chocolate and coffee notes. There’s also a clear hop bitterness in the finish. The coffee flavor is not artificial like some coffee stouts but dark, complex and rich. The feel is smooth despite the bitter rich flavors. I just wish that my body didn’t freak out so much when I drink coffee stouts. It’s very odd because I’m a regular coffee drinker and a regular beer drinker, but alas, here we are. BeerChaser0078 (284), Melbourne, Australia Sep 10, 2009 Bottle. Been wanting to try this for a while. Pours jet black, even held up to the light, with a big brown head that lasts for quite a while and leaves a lot of lacing. On the nose coffee and dark chocolate really stand out, but the notes of vanilla, roasted malt and cocoa are also very prominent, in addition to a little woodiness. In terms of flavour, the aroma says a lot of it, but the roasted grains are more at the forefront and there is an even stronger cocoa, or maybe mocha, presence. Smooth, creamy and very full bodied, this is a stout worth seeking out. The hype was just about spot on! DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Sep 6, 2009 Birthday beer purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. This aroma has a nice amount of burnt roastiness with some coffee hints, but not overly coffee-like. There is an underlying sweet chocolate aroma present, which is nice. Subtle hints of anise are also present. Has a nice opaque dark brown/black body with a large, brown frothy head that leaves some really nice lacing. Very attractive. Roasty chocolate flavors dominate early, before it has a bit of an astringent acidity in the middle. Finishes with the coffee flavors, which is nice. A pretty flavorful brew, but the strange astringency in the middle hurts this beer’s score.
