pours engine oil, with tan head, nose is marshmellow, chocolate, baked chocolate cake. grapefruit hops, some spices, tar, tastes tar, chocolate, grapefruit, extremely bitter, but the mouthfeel is fluffy and it is balanced for the most part. not really smokey and overly chocolaty. extremely good.

very sharp start unlike anything ive had in a stout, almost astringent. after the hops subside, the oats kick in for a smooth finish, but one that is shortlived. this doesnt have the decadent, luxurious feel that most oatmeal stouts provide. mouthfeel is atypical and not silky at all, color is dark as the grim reapers cloak. maximum coffee and minimum chocolate, nearly acidic. booze is not hidden, its at the forefront surprisingly. many oatmeal stouts are only comforting but this is truly challenging.

Feb 15/07 50cl bottle bot from Russell & Roland. LCBO claims 5.5% alc/vol. Aroma is deep roasted choco espresso. Dark brown with big thick foamy espresso head that eventually thins. Thick bitter vanilla choco roasted espesso but lacking in flavour. Lasting bitter coffee choco after-taste. I had rated this from an earlier batch as 4.5 but this case is no where near as good unfortunately. Wondering if it’s gone bad. Very disappointing. Not worth the price.

Dark brown, almost black; pours almost like tar. Coffee, dark chocolate aromas. I like coffee, I like stouts, I even like some coffee stouts, but I’m not nuts about this one. The main reason is that I really don’t think the coffee they use is all that good. I loves me a good dark roast coffee as much as the next guy, but the one used here is so dark it almost seems burnt. It comes across as an acrid bitterness, which really interferes with any other flavours going on here. Kind of disappointing. Think my favourite coffee stout is still Southern Tier’s Jah-va

Bottle. Poured out an opaque dark brown with a huge bubbling milk chocolate colored head. Little lacing in the glass. Aroma is strongly malty with a big dose of roasted malts and coffee. Flavor is very coffee forward, dry, bitter with little to no sweetness in the body. Medium to fll body with a strong lingering bitterness. Good.

Nr.300 Rating - 0,5 lt Bottle found in Holstebro (Beer Paradise). What an amazing beer. From the pitch black appearance with the huge dark brown head. The aromas and flavors of Oatmeal, coffee, chocolate and many more. Great aftertaste that lasts. A wonderful brew.

Nearly black pour with a quite sizeable brown head. Mostly coffee, some roast malt aromas. Really sticks to the glass, but somewhat medium bodied. Lots of coffee up front and throughout, some mocha or bakers chocolate, ends with a little bitterness and lingers into creaminess. Definetely near the top, but not above the Founders Breakfast stouts. Maybe more drinkable however with the slightly lower abv.

Pours a pitch black hue with a huge layer of brown watery foam that dissipates to a ring with slippy lacing. Nose is full of coffee grounds and espresso, dark chocolate, cream, light grassy tones, grains. Taste is fairly mild coffee (not in your face) with a few milk and sugars added in, light hops and grain midway, finishes bittersweet. Creamy smooth texture with light carbonation. An easy-drinking stout with light coffee flavors, not as extreme as Founder’s or similar coffee stouts.
