Jayb0 (750), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Aug 25, 2009 Very good. Black. super drinkable and satisfying. Smooth and creamy. Dangerous as you could start at breakfast and just keep going, if you can afford it. jesperhammer (260), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 24, 2009 22-AUG-2009, Bottle @Henriks.
Dark brown, high brown head.
Chocolate, coffee, all sorts of roasted aromas.
Very creamy, nice carbonation, quite bitter from the hops, but not too much. Actually nothing is too much, and all is there. Alcohol is almost undetectable, everything is in perfect balance, Wow this is truly a great beer.
Have tried it several times, but still not in the morning. Maybe that should be next goal? TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Aug 23, 2009 Mondial 2009, Montreal. Black, with a thick brown head, with a large amount of sediment. Lots of espresso and dark chocolate in both the aroma and flavour. Not too sweet. A bitter, roasty finish. Alcohol is completely hidden. Very full, smooth and creamy body. A well constructed beer. Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 22, 2009 ust perfect in the appearance department. Incredibly thick and sticky head that changes color as it gets closer to the liquid. The liquid is used motor oil black and seems to pour pretty thick. This is the nicest looking pour I’ve seen without a nitro widget.
Smells of oatmeal mash, meaning I have a thick mouthfeel to look foward to, but I digress. Coffee, roasted malts, light chocolate. Very good.
Taste is also the winner, exactly what I expected for a coffee oatmeal impy. With that said, I’m guessing this one falls a little below the radar because similar drinks can be had a bit cheaper.
Mouth is thick, but not quite as thick as I had expected, and the drink is medium in carbonation.
With some other Coffee Oatmeal Imperials around here in easy supply, I don’t think that I’d go out of my way to trade for this one, but it is a damn good drink.
obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Aug 22, 2009 Complex nose with good stuff and bad stuff. The bad: feet and bandaids. The good: dark chocolate, must, mud, and sweet cream. At any rate, it is very distinctive. Black pour with a thick firm brown head, some lacing. Dry flavor of coffee, old wood, cream of tartar, and bark. Grass and parsley finish. Lives up to the hype. I like it with chocolate truffles or doughnuts, preferably boston creme. MrGGen (221), Italy Aug 21, 2009 Colore nero, Schiuma abbondante, marrone e cremosa. IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Aug 17, 2009 Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a sturdy ring of khaki colored foam on top. The beer almost looks creamy or frothy. Aroma: A nice, freshly prepared cup of coffee. Taste: Acidic, medium roasted coffee and roasty malts. Some chocolate sweetness goes in between the coffee bitterness. Mouthfeel: A silky smooth texture. Overall: The best coffee stout I have had to date. Really impressive, and gets better once it hits room temperature.
hopheadfett (50), Oak Ridge, New Jersey, USA Aug 16, 2009 Pours black, gigantic brown head, excellent lace. Nose of coffee, molasses, citrus/hop?. Taste is initially sour, turns sweet, then hits with a strong coffee flavor, finishes hoppy with slight bitterness. I also get some soy sauce stuck on my tongue after a sip, very complex stuff going on in this beer. Absolutely a treat, the balance is incredible with this many flavors going on.
