The Oatmeal really smooths it out and lets it slide silkity in your mouth. Fantastic beear, made better as it warms. Really dark body with a really dark head, large bubbles. Rockin’ good stuff, kid. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Appearance: Pours a midnight brown with a sturdy ring of khaki colored foam on top. The beer almost looks creamy or frothy.
Aroma: A nice, freshly prepared cup of coffee.
Taste: Acidic, medium roasted coffee and roasty malts. Some chocolate sweetness goes in between the coffee bitterness.
Mouthfeel: A silky smooth texture.
Overall: The best coffee stout I have had to date. Really impressive, and gets better once it hits room temperature. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2009 The Norwegians have perfected the stout, and this is further proof. The appearance is a very dark, oil black color totally opaque, with a well developed fully frothy brownish tan fluffy chocolate milk head that slowly subsides, into a thin 1/4 inch tan slice of foam, like all good head it comes to and, no pun intended, but with this head your close to spent by then. Flavors range from a black coffee, hazlenut coffee, to tobacco, ultra dark roasty oak. What it has in flavor it lacks in aroma, there remains a very earthy quality, with a somewhat present dark roasty barley malt alcohol aroma, as it warms to a more appropriate temperature the tobacco notes really become enhanced. For such a flavorful beer the finish is utterly smooth, almost no char left in the palate, just a slight tinge of roasty bitter, as the beer warms to ideal temperature it’s tannins take on a more pronounced bitter flavor and finish. As a side note, this beer is an excellent partner to a black and mild, or other chocolate dominant cigar. Of course the better the cigar, the more intoxicating the experience. thooper41 (384), Oregon, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2009 500mL bottle: appearance is pitch black with brown head, aroma is of roasted malt chocolate and hints of coffee, flavor has lots of chocolate and roasted malt but isn’t the top notch stout I was looking for. Want the best get speedway this just doesn’t cut it for me. AskForJenny (632), Ontario, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 10, 2009 Pours like two stroke oil, coating the glass, clinging to it. Didn’t have much of a head. Chocolate and smoke nose. Palate was a roasted bonanza. Outstanding and worth seeking out. Kestral (198), Oslo, Norway

Aroma is complex, loads of coffee, herbal hops, dark fruits, chocolate, roasted notes, hints of smoke and nuts. Flavour is full, loads of coffee, some nuts, roasted, almost burnt malts, some ashiness, and a solid bitter espresso and citric hop finish. Body is nice and full, smooth carb. Good brew. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Opaque black pour with immense and substantial cocoa head. Gold brown edge highlights. Very present aromas of fig, cola, coffee and alcohol. Taste rich roasty malts and alefruit, very nice roasty/red-winey coffee showing some cocoa and nutty overtones. Great bitter citric hops and coffee finish, displays a little alcohol. Go, Mikkel. The palate and cocoa notes improve with some gentle cooling. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Bottle from Briskeby Vinmonopolet, Oslo. Inky pitch with a well behaved, filthy yellow collar going the distance. Nose marmite on charred wholemeal ,coffee grounds, grapefruit juice and husky malt. Slick and creamy, no prickling b/c fizz and acidity like the last beer (Dark Force), fine savoury espresso and cocoa ashiness; Twiglets, bitter nutty malt, grapefruit hop and charred barley linger. Good but not great, and a bit one dimensional.
