Coffee, roast, chocolate aroma with the coffee getting stronger. Coffee flavor with a bit of chocolate and late astringency. LIngering coffee, licorice. Fuller bodied. Nice complexity. Too much coffee for my tastes, but still a very good beer JK (2968), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Thick, black syrup. Coffee aroma, intense but not bitter and it has more flavor than merely cold coffee. Medium sweet malt and chocolate are in there as well. Exceptionally smooth palate. Thanks to Brewfiend for sharing. beerbuzzmontreal (2946), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 20, 2006 Pours a jet black color with a ring of light brown lace. Excellent and complex aroma of coacoa, coffee, roasted malt and citrusy hops. Again the words excellent and complex have to be used to describe the flavor, coacoa, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and citrusy hops work well to provide a blend I wouldn’t mind having every morning for the rest of my life, the flavor finishes bitter. The body is full with an adequate dry texture and moderate carbonation. This is probably the best stout (not imperial) that I ever had, it’s so rich and complex. Dogbrick (2925), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 10, 2007 This fine Stout pours a glossy near-black color with a thick and rocky light brown head that has good retention. Nice big patches of lacing on the glass. Big roasty aroma of coffee, oats, and chocolate malt. Rich, smooth body with a character somewhere between an Oatmeal Stout and an Imperial Stout. Flavors of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and hops are all present. All in all the beer manages the smooth texture and flavor of an Oatmeal Stout while toying with the robust body of an Imperial. The finish is moderately bitter coffee and hops balanced but malt and chocolate. Overall this is an excellent Stout. skortila (2915), Bunnik, Netherlands
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 17, 2007 Aroma of very pure coffee beans, some licorice, some hops. Slick, black coloured with a chocolate brown head. Taste is sweet, moderate bitter, coffee malty, quite creamy. Nice balanced and quite smooth. Good stuff. 5000 (2900), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle for rating #2300: Looks like your typical 30W motor oil.   Moderate to large fizzy light brown head, dies somewhat
quickly, spotty lacing.   Rich nose, cocoa, coffee beans, campfire, charred wood, ash, subtle hop, and perhaps a little bit of maple
syrup.   Semi-sweet combination of cocoa and coffee on the tongue.   Subtle hop bite, some malt like bitterness from the roasting.
Very well balanced, extremely well balanced actually.   No one part seems to dominate.   Good meld of flavors.   Smooth, just
plain smooth.   Not as thick or viscous as others, but what it lacks in viscosity it makes up for finish.   Certainly not a heavy
Stout, and I am thankful for that.   Glad to see the Danes making some kick ass beer.   Lingering cocoa, roasted malts, ash, and
coffee.   Very flavorful, easy to drink, and quite a pleasure.   A big thanks to Crosling for selling me one of the few
bottles he had left in the secret stash.   If it were possible to add a bit of oak, this thing would be utterly phenominal.   As
is, quite good, solid, and highly recommended.

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Updated: Jan 7, 2008Black body with an initially medium tan head. Aroma is very roasted, fresh citrusy hops and pastry dough. Main flavours are the usual three amigos: roastiness, chocolate and coffee beans. The chocolate flavour is not like black bitter chocolate, it is more like rich chocolate cake with a sweet chocolate cream. The high roastiness level (may be a bit too roasted) detracts the attention away from the rich and smooth chocolate. The roasted coffee beans flavour are there but not as upfront as with many breakfast stouts. A very pleasant astringency lighten up the experience. This generously hopped beer develops some kind of green apples flavour/astringency in the finish that makes a bottle go down even more quickly. Full but silk body with soft carbonation. Certainly one my favourite “little” stouts ever (8% and less). Feels like a 5%. And yes, I’ve been a beer geek on at least one occasion. thebeertourist (2870), Oslo, Norway

Complex flavours of salt, peat, roasted coffee, some chocolate and milk. Soft and velvety. A treat, not only for breakfast.
