The bottle was brought back to Tromsø and shared with some good friends at a drinking session. Pours a black-as- coal body under a lasting, beige foamy head leaving great lacing on the glass. Rich hoppy aroma supported by black malty hints. Lots of dark chocolate malts in a complex roasty taste than also includes dark berries, ending up with a rich and lingering aftertaste of coffee. Perfect balanced. Moderate to full mouthfeel (23.02.2007). after4ever (2859), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 10, 2007 Bomber, courtesy Maria--thank you! I’ve been aching to try this beer for quite a while. Big dark black pour with a thick, creamy, moussy, light tan head. Enormous coffee aroma--seriously overpowering. We served it with dessert tonight and it still seems pretty crazy. Bold attack, with a medium-high body and intense coffee flavors. Puckery astringent dry finish after the onrush of coffee flavor. This is an interesting beer, but let it never be said that Americans have cornered the market on insanely bulked-up flavors. This one’s a great one for standing out from a crowd of coffee-rich stouts, but it strikes me as a little too far around the bend to really be drinkable in a pleasurable way--more of a curiosity. Pours deep dark brown with thin mocha head and decent lacing. The aroma is assertive with roastiness and tart malt astringency, dark roasted coffee beans, chocolate, semi sweet molasses and more coffee. Great smelling brew. Yum. The flavor is both smooth and bold. How can that be? The taste is roasty moving toward burnt and then turning dark roasted coffee grounds by midway. Just amazing flavors that are rich and delicious. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 30, 2007 Pours dark chocolate brown with a soft than head that fades away. Very bitter coffee flavor throughout, bakers chocolate, very roasty. Palate wasn’t that heavy, lighter with a tingly carbonation. A nice stout, but to expensive, more then a bottle of Speedway stout here. TaktikMTL (2798), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 18, 2009 Bottle, thanks again to my inlaws! Pours a dense viscous near-black with a slow-to-rise brown head of fine bubbles. This looks like an impy! Initially the aroma is very perfumey and floral, but as it warms and settles the roastiness rolls out. Like many coffee beers, this has high vegetal overtones, but the perfuminess never completely leaves, giving this beer a very intriguing aroma. Velvety smooth mouthfeel with lots of coffee roast and a bit of char and chocolate. Very bitter roasty finish. Again, the floral quality adds this really intriguing dimension to a beautifully crafted stout. Outstanding for being more than just a coffee stout! Aubrey (2782), Denver, Colorado, USA

Rich chocolate and coffee throughout -- nice. Zingy hops seemed to balance well. Bitterness built in the finish. RERATE: Motor oil blackness; creamy, lasting, tan head. Milkshake-like texture. Rich chocolate and roasty coffee notes throughout. Bitterness (grass, pine) was balancing. Warm and soothing alcohol. Dark chocolate cocoa nibs in the aftertaste. Tasty beer.
