3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma is very complex; I was ready for that. It takes a few sniffs to get everything that is going on. Smells of oak, bourbon, light raisin, fig. Not as strong of a coffee aroma as one would expect. Dark chocolate undertones in the scent. Expensive dark chocolate, not artificial like in some beers. Some booze, not much. Black in color with a medium tan head. Leaves heavy lacing on the glass. Great looking stout. Taste is pleasant coffee, not overpowering. Hop bitterness comes through after the coffee. Flavor is not nearly as complex as the aroma. Surprisingly watery in texture - I was really expecting a richer palate. I can see why they say it goes well with breakfast. A stronger beer would be too much for the morning. Being that I never drink beer for breakfast, I really have no use for this. The palate is disappointing, itís very expensive and the flavor doesnít give you much besides coffee and hops. Itís not bad, but no way should it be 100 points. Perhaps I am biased because I like big, bold, rich stouts, and this is not one of those. For the price and reputation, I was expecting to be blown away. Right off the top of my head, I can think of 5 stouts I like better than this.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Poured from 11.2oz brown bottle into nucleated schooner glass, an opaque black colour with deep sudsy brown foam, long-lasting with fine lace. Beautiful. Rich malts, grainy, fruity, dark chocolate, dark coffee, brown bread, toast with orange marmalade, roasty, stone fruit esters, pleasant sharpness from burnt barley grains. Somehow both chewy and creamy. Sweet and bitter. Smooth and tart. Full-bodied and dry-finish. I know they use Centennial and Cascade hops, but this has a definite English Fuggles-ish earthiness too. Full-bodied, big chewy mouthfeel, subtle tannins and mineral essence, average carbonation, lingering multi-layered aftertastes with a hoppy snap and bright coffee acidity at finish. God this is insanely delicious, one of the best beers Iíve ever tasted, difficult to imagine a more perfect combination of flavours.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Hands down one of the best beers there is! Very complex yet balanced taste-diversity. Nice dark malts and licorice, but still enough dark chocholate and hop bitterness to give enough edge.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Persistent foam. Scent senses are sharpened by the meeting with high-quality coffee and light pleasant hop, while the taste buds angrily turned on the hard roasted malt tones of coffee easily gentle bitterness and slightly English licorice gently holds it all together until hop bitterness takes over prolonged aftertaste. If you close your eyes sharpened taste impression and the brain gets the necessary time and space to the aforementioned impressions. There are not enough words of praise for the Beer Geek Breakfast. It is far too profound and all-encompassing.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours black, nice brown head. Great, very intense, roasted aroma of coffee and chocolate. Very complex taste - sour, then sweet and bitter at finish. Notes of coffee in this beer are simply amazing. Medium bitterness, very smooth. Great!

On cask. Pours a dark black with thin brown head. Has a strong coffee/espresso and chocolate aroma. Taste is strong with chocolate, roasted malts, coffee/espresso, grains and light dark fruit. A very dry malt and grain aftertaste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A milky, smoky nose. Thick-ish with burnt malt and coffee flavors. I like how much that coffee and roast contributes. I feel the oats late in the throat. Itís a little too smoky for me but you can tell itís a good beer and you can tell who makes it.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice brown/black color with no real head retention or lacing. Has an off smell, but tastes like lightly burnt coffee and dark chocolate. A good beer that is a victim of its appearance.
