The aroma is very complex; I was ready for that. It takes a few sniffs to get everything that is going on. Smells of oak, bourbon, light raisin, fig. Not as strong of a coffee aroma as one would expect. Dark chocolate undertones in the scent. Expensive dark chocolate, not artificial like in some beers. Some booze, not much. Black in color with a medium tan head. Leaves heavy lacing on the glass. Great looking stout. Taste is pleasant coffee, not overpowering. Hop bitterness comes through after the coffee. Flavor is not nearly as complex as the aroma. Surprisingly watery in texture - I was really expecting a richer palate. I can see why they say it goes well with breakfast. A stronger beer would be too much for the morning. Being that I never drink beer for breakfast, I really have no use for this. The palate is disappointing, it’s very expensive and the flavor doesn’t give you much besides coffee and hops. It’s not bad, but no way should it be 100 points. Perhaps I am biased because I like big, bold, rich stouts, and this is not one of those. For the price and reputation, I was expecting to be blown away. Right off the top of my head, I can think of 5 stouts I like better than this.

Drank with Bram at my room during Stukafest Nijmegen 02-02-2016. Okay beer, but a bit disappointing. Mainly coffee taste and quite thin beer. Not very special/comprehensive.

Nice smooth mocha / dark chocolatey aroma. Pours completely black, pretty lasting brown head. Taste in the beginning was very balanced between mocha and bittersweet dark chocolate. As it warms it becomes more chocolate sweet. Full body, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Nice coffee stout.

This is a great brew. Oats and a bit of coffee bitters and maybe smoke make this brew unique. For breakfast? Not quite sure about that but very enjoyable.

Arrived in a snifter. 3.25 A: Black color. Came with just the slightest medium brown head. 3.75 S: Big coffee - deep roast. Very raw malty, grainy. Resiny with herbal hops. 2.5 T: Overly roasty and charred. Lacking depth. Too dry with too much hop bitterness. 2.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lacking creaminess. 2.5 D: Overly bitter. No good. ★ 374 characters DavoleBomb, Jun 30, 2015

330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 9/7/2015. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, pine, light smoke/char, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt, coffee, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, pine, light smoke/char, and roasted/toasted earthiness. Moderate pine and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, toasted oats, dark bread, light nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, pine, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, coffee, and earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate dryness from hop/roast bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent American styled oatmeal stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, coffee, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours is dark with very thick brown head. Sweet aroma, dark coffee, dark chocolate, wood, roasted malt, tobacco. Taste is light sweet, light to moderate bitter with just a hint of acidic notes, roasted malts on tongue. Dry, medium body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation, coffee bittery finish. Awesomely ballanced.

Pours a jet black with a thin tan head. Aroma is lots of roast, coffee, chocolate, wood, and tobacco/almost smoky notes. Flavor is roast, coffee, bitter chocolate, and wood/leather. Has a dry, slightly bitter, chalky feel. This is probably the manliest stout ever, something that would go perfectly with a cigar. Quite good.

Dark brown with medium creamy beige head. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt taste remarkable hoppy bitterness and coffee, some chocolate and vanilla notes. Slight bitter aftertaste.
