Pours very dark brown with a large nicely laced brown head that slowly diminished. Aroma of dark chocolate, oats, hints of roasted coffee and low profile hop notes. The flavour is rich dark chocolate, oats, milk and roasted coffee. Medium bodied with a smooth and bitter mouthfeel. Finishes with chocolate malt and a slight dryness that lingers. A great stout that’s nicely balanced and very easy to drink - a mini me version of the Impy. Very nice. Bottle shared in celebration of my 27th year in existence. 01112009.

Bomber into a snifter. Pours solid black with a thick and tight brown head. The aroma is complex malts with a touch of sour stout. The flavor is quite complex. There is a bit of dark fruit and sour cherries that is followed immediately by roasted malts, coffee, and a dash of vanilla. This has opened my eyes on stouts... This isn’t a stout - this is a light imperial stout!

Dry, Ashy roasty bitterness..Flavor is ashy coffee with dark burnt sugars and a lovely bitter roast. Enjoyed for breakfast on Thanksgiving day, as it should be. Simply lovely

@ a tasting, pours black opaque with a huge dark moka color head that leaves a nice lacing, aroma of coffee, chocolate, nuts, cherry liquor, smoke and notes of cream, flavor of chimney smoke, sausage, dark chocolate, coffee and some cherry liquor, long cappuccino & tobacco aftertaste, sticky and full bodied. Great stuff

I do not know where this bottle came from but it was dropped off to me at my store. Pours black with thick, huge dark chocolate head. Aroma of fresh coffee, strong dark roast, chocolate, as well as a dark roast bitter. Flavor is dry, just pure, clean dark roast & coffee, baking chocolate with a sharp dark roast and coffee bitter. Mouth feel is smooth, creamy, has a medium-heavy body with low-medium carbonation. Overall, damned good beer, has some character....

500 ml. Very deep brown color, full brown head. Appealing roasted malt flavor with hints of smoke, oak, vanilla and coffee. Smooth dark chocolate flavor with notes of coffee and hops. Full body, medium carbonation. This is a very nice brew indeed.

Jet black pour, small tan head that laces up nicely on the glass. Aroma holds large amounts of oat, dry roasted malt, chocolate, espresso, caramel, and a light touch of smoke. Flavor is excellent; great way to start the day. Full and rich notes of chocolate, coffee, oat, and roast. Some subtle hop character also comes through, particularly some light citrus from the Cascades. Palate is full bodied, with a nice combination of the sweet chocolate and dry roast creating a complex and enticing mouthfeel. Absolutely top tier stout, worthy of its score; another great brew from Mikkeller.

Drank for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning. Obsidian pour with a one finger brownish tan head. Aroma is flaked oak, dark roast coffee, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, molasses, caramel, and charred roasted barley. Flavor is a heavenly concoction of roasted espresso, oat sugar, peat, bitter chocolate, hints of dark fruit, and a beautifully balancing hop bitterness. Palate is rich, thick, full, creamy, and velvety with medium caressing effervescence and a chalky roast oriented finish. A delicious Thanksgiving breakfast...

All one could home for in an oatmeal stout! Outstanding flavors of coffee, excellent balance of everything else. Aroma is tame but enjoyable, great beer!
