sebletitje (372), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Gillard. Pours black with a nice nutty head. Taste is a little bitter. Aroma is filled with a nice coffee.
I noticed a very subtle lactose.
Mouthfeel, the coffee isn’t as presentt as others, and it remains the low point of this rating.
The beer remains highly drinkable, filled with nice flavors.
southamptonsam (51), New York, USA Oct 10, 2008 Great nose, beautiful head. Kept getting more and more flavorful. Too bad I only had one. Becoming a real fan of Danish beer. cab (760), Denmark Oct 9, 2008 Bottle. Old rating. Simply divine flavors in this brew... it is loaded with coffee and chocolate, roastiness and dark fruit with a smooth lingering roasty bitter finish. ilovedarkbeer (766), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle thanks to BMan113VR via zathrus13. Black brown pour with a bubbly head. Nose is coffee, earth, and roasted malt. Very dark and earthy but hard to pin down. Top soil? Taste is just a roasted but controlled coffee bomb and chocolate. Great stout. A caged tiger that could easily be turned loose to make a vicious impy stout. Bov (4659), Bienne, Switzerland Oct 7, 2008 thanks to Julien Allen for this one! - pours a dark black colour under a solid creamy dark beige foam; beautiful lacing; deep aroma of black chocolate, cocoa powder and tobacco; a touch of gentian and fairly roasted; good malt body with a moderate and subtle carbonation; very dry and bitter; long dry aftertaste of espresso, tobacco and milk chocolate - beautiful BMan1113VR (913), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Oct 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to zathrus13. Did not have at breakfast...sadly.... Pour inky with a large, dark brown, creamy tight head with a black body with decent lacing and good retention. Aroma is over very fresh coffee, oatmeal cookie, flowers, chocolate, brown sugar and overall smells dark. Taste is fresh coffee roast, chocolatey with no alcohol at all. Deecently smokey. Nothing spectacular, but a good stout. Smooth mouthfeel, light bubbles.
