Bottle. This lively beer pours a deep pitch color with a very large, firm, brown head. Long lasting. Full roasty aroma, well balanced stout elements of the roasted malt and the roasted coffee. Light sweetness creeps in along with a touch of smoke. Full flavored, a lot going on but each element seems to have its own space. Nice melding of the smokiness, coffee, roasted malt, and a touch of oat sweetness. Smooth medium to full body, light warming comes in. Delicious. Thanks Jeff!

I liked this beer, but it was just a tad bit too hoppy for me :(

Awesome stout. Strong alcohol nose with hops chocolate cherry and coffee, complex. Taste is chocolate covered cherries some hops toasty coffee and faint alcohol. Gets better as it warms up 60 degrees f or a little warmer is best to bring out the cherry and chocolate flavors to balance the bitterness and tastings of the malts.

From a bottle. Pours very dark brown with a very thin tan head. Smells like dry ash and roasted coffee. Tastes very dry and earthy, lightly roasted. Light body and low/medium carbonation.

Rating 1,000! Pours a deep black/brown with a dark tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee and cocoa with a smokey note mixed in. Mouthfeel is thick. Taste is smoked throughout. Extremely so. It’s almost like sitting next to a live fire while drinking a stout. A pronounced hop finish blends with the smokiness to remove any of the sour notes typical at the end of dark stouts. Finish is also very dry. It could use a little bit of sweetness to counterbalance the smoke and bitterness, but it’s definitely distinctive.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours black with medium almost fluffy tan to ruby colored head, good lacing. Smell is piney hops, roasted...almost burnt coffee, chocolate, oatmeal, and vanilla extract. Taste is dark bitter chocolate, cocoa, roasted coffee, oats, hint of smoke, and hop bitterness in the background giving a bit of grapefruit and orange notes. Carbonation medium to low, oily texture. Balance seems a bit off, but not bad.
