KimJohansen (4285), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jul 21, 2008 Black with large brown head. Aromaen has loads of coffee, hops, chocolate and hard roasted malt. Flavor is sweet with notes of bitter coffee, burned malt, caramel, hops and dark chocolate. Ends bitter. Huge complexity and soft mouthfeel.
lassem (125), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 7, 2008 I´m a dedicated fan of beer geek breakfast.... and here is an upgrated version...what a fantastic idea. The nose is hoppy fruitey and dominated of coffee. It has a huge fluffy brown head and a thick and creamy body that is sso black. American hops souch as simco and amirillo gives it a fruity and very very dry hoppyness. Dry roasted coffee, caramels and chocolate gives together with the hoppyness a perfectly rounded and complex taste. Im sure this one also could be aged with great success....and maybe be my first 5.
Proud to be the first to rate this amazing beer. nqualls (422), Tennessee, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle. Poured an obsidian black with a one finger brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, coffee and grain. Flavor was dark chocolate and coffee. Managed to get a burned malt note and maybe some citrus in there too. Full body with soft carbonation and a velvet mouthfeel. Good impy...glad I got a bottle of this. Doppelganger (1198), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Oct 4, 2008 Bottle from Fin, with Craig, Stella, Fin, Loz and Traci, at the "What’s This Label Supposed To Be Anyway?" tasting. Cheers Fin!
Black, brown highlights. No head. Lots of green walnut aroma, roast beef, coffee, rum. Nice soft mouthfeel. Burned husky roast, warm chocolate, metallic husky finish. Lots of hops, lots of flavor, but not nearly as focused as the regular BGB. kkearn (685), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 25cL bottle. Big thanks to my cousin, ggaughan for this treat! Pours deep black, capped with a thin brown head. Aroma of bakers chocolate, coffee, oats, with citric hops and salt in the background. Intense dark chocolate flavor, with coffee, tar, ash, and grapefruity hops. Long grapefruit finish. Beautiful, velvety smooth mouthfeel. Nice, intense imperial stout. I’m really glad I had the opportunity to try this. Thanks, Greg. Fin (2348), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Sep 28, 2008 Tasting with Casey, Traci, Craig, Stella and Loz 27-09-08 this bottle brought along by Fin The hops and coffee dominate the aroma on this one, beer is fabulously pitch black. Quite thick tarry, oily mouthfeel, but I find this a bit claggy in the mouth bitterness is very prominent and whilst not really my thing, am glad to have tried it.
