Bottle from Mane Liquor. Should have rated this bastard a while ago. Pours like motor oil with a dark khaki head. Big aroma of milk chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, salted chocolate, espresso and maybe a touch of dark fruit. Rich, creamy chocolate mixed in with dry cacao, an oaky warmth and some spicy vanilla are super chewy on the palate, very velvety and heavy. Lingering boozy warmth with oak, raisin and some bitter choc. Another world class brew from mr Mikkeller.

Pours jet black with a thin tanned head. Smell of bourbon, vanilla, booze and dark malts. Medium sweet, more bourbon and vanilla, boozes, dark malts and roast.......but where is the koppi lowak coffee? Moderate bitter finish. This is a good beer, but sadly the coffee flavors from the original is just a fade of what it can be. The originial is much better i’m afraid. The bourbon just don’t bring enough magic to this beer

Looks like a long black coffee with a small head resembling coffee crema. Smells like robusta coffee, spice and bourbon/oak. Tastes like kopi luwak (Indonesian/Sabah coffee) and chocolate, with a medium sweetness and molasses taste balanced out by the alcoholic linger of the bourbon which is present, but not dominant. The syrupy mouth-feel is balanced nicely by the spiciness from the bourbon and the toffee type characteristics of the coffee. Stand out brew this one; it is highly recommended for lovers of good coffee, bourbon and most importantly great beer.

"Exactly what I was hoping it would be. BGBW is already one of the smoothest beers I’ve ever had. While this edition is 1.8% stronger, it loses none of the smoothness. Rich and full. perfect carbonation, no alcohol bite at 12%?!! 3 months in barrels was perfect. Coffee is still the main player and the bourbon adds to, instead of taking away from the base beer. Release this in the states already!!!"

Smell is of bourbon and sweetness (muscovado sugar). Fast dissipating eggshell head. Taste is sweet muscovado, bourbon, bitter cocoa. Thin body with no carbonation. A stout that is well complimented by the bourbon.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours black with a thin fizzy dark mocha head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, boozy, malty and tiny fruity with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, red berries, moist soil, charred wood, bitter chocolate, vanilla fudge, toffee, alcohol, hay and hints of kecap manis and chocolate chip cookies. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter, slightly salty and malty with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, charred wood, coffee hard candy, heavily roasted coconut, walnuts, chocolate brownies, moist soil and alcohol. Mouthfeel is soft, velvety, creamy, tiny roasted astringent, boozy and near full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, bitter, tiny salty and malty with roasted malts, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, roasted coconut, bitter chocolate, moist soil, alcohol and hints of kecap manis. Slightly hot at the moment but with nice bourbon barrel characteristics and alcohol heat so it doesn’t bother me too much. The coffee is just starting to turn into that sour used coffee grounds smell in the nose. Just barely noticeable but it’s there. The coffee in the flavour is great however and well implemented with the malt base of the beer and the vanilla, coconut and bourbon flavour of the barrel. I’d drink this now if I were you and live through the slight heat. Save it for longer and the coffee will most likely turn quite vile… A treat really…
