Pours pitch black with beige head. Thick in mouth, quite noticeable spirity warmth. Generally smooth but a bit too much alcohol, oodles of coffee. Almost a chilli warmth at times. Like this but my interest wanes as a take each sip. A8 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.6

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Foffern (772) - Bodø, NORWAY - MAY 22, 2013

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ClubGonzo (2760) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle, shared with Foffern and Inbreak at Foffern’s going-away tasting. Pours a jet black body with a miniscule beige head. Nose is wood, licorice, espresso, calvados, grape peel, hints of burnt sugar and caramel. Subtle calvados tones which work very nice. Taste is licorice, espresso, wood, dry charcoal, calvados and hints of dark chocolate and burnt sugar. Full body, soft carbonation. Elegant and subtle in its makeup, this is a tasty understatement.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Marheb (1214) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 29, 2013
Un nez puissant de tannins et d’ethanol dans un marécage chocolaté. Le calvados est vraiment envahissant au début et ne réussi jamais à balancer le poids des sucres. Bon mais à court de l’excellence.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 BeerBeCue (63) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 28, 2013
1-year aged 8.5 OZ bottle poured into small snifter. It pours deep, deep deeeeep opaque black, with a small ring of foam. This one is so deeply black you can’t even perceive a hint of light through the glass...in this was tested in direct afternoon sunlight! Aroma is of coffee, dark chocolate, calvados (duh) and is quite woody. It’s also quite boozy but it isn’t a fault in this case, in fact, it blends well (and we have to remember it’s 10.9% abv anyways)! Taste is uhm...bittersweet let’s say? The bitterness has a lot to do with the woody aspect of this brew. Body is full, with an oily texture - really, really nice. Carbonation is practically nonexistent. Finish is long. Very long! Overall? Wow. This is a very well done barrel-aged brew. Every aspect - aroma, taste, texture seems to fall into place perfectly. Highly recommended.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 banii (116) - Trondheim, NORWAY - APR 1, 2013

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jbeatty (540) - New York, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Bottle, 03/24/2013. Pours dark brown, nearly black, medium creamy dark tan head, settles in a few minutes, fine lacing rings the glass. Aroma is round, rich coffee and chocolate with smooth roast background, very dark, raisin and sweeter fruity barrel notes. Taste begins with fruity calvados notes, boozy apple highlights coming in, then changes completely, expanding to intense char roast, espresso grounds, cacao nuts and dark chocolate, long bitter finish. Thick, creamy palate. Wow, nice and quite complex.
