50 cL bottle. Pours a pitch black with a huge, dense, creamy and chocolate brown head. Aroma is tarish, smoked, coffee, chocolate and hops floral/fruity. Flavour is dominated by the tarish and smoked notes. Light coffee and chocolate note looking through alongside a rough bitterness. Subdued sweetness and hard roasted malt flavoured. Light throat burn. Quite bitter and dry finish. Very distinct islay cask flavours into the far and certainly overall a change from the base beer.

Drunk to celebrate my rating number 21,100. Bottled. A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of iodine, hard roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, smoke, and wood. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of iodine, alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce, as well as medium notes of coffee, peated smoke, and wood, leading to a very dry, alcoholic, roasted, and whiskey like finish. The alcohol warms the mouth.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours pitch black with a dense brown head - really good looking. Aroma of overpowering iodine and tar with a burned ashy backbone. Solid body, ashy burned malts with massive imprints of peaty smoke and a little iodine. Rough burned malty finish. 090410

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Quite much pitch black colour with mediumsized yellowish brown head. This one has rather much left of the original beer with the Islay notes not coming in all too dominating, although they are strong. This one has aged very nicely in the barrells

Bottled at Örebro Öl- och Whiskeyfestival. Completely black, rich brown head. Sweet and full bodied with lots of licorice and peat. Bold, but not assaulting. Hugely malty, lots of coffee, lot of whixky. Salty peaty bitterness. Ramps up things perhaps one step too far, but manages to stay on track.

2013-11-11, bottle, batch 415, brewed 090309, bb 090312, 4½ years old, 8-4-8-4-16=40
Pitch black color with medium sized head, reducing quickly. The aroma presents strong iodine character, followed in strength by the peat, and eventually by the roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel, lean, thinning after a few years of age; dark chocolate and roasted malt flavor, with light residual sweetness; the liquorice touch is too strong; some peat and iodine; correct bitterness level; pleasant alcohol warmth, but well controlled.
Very good, but it won’t improve further.

2010-04-10, tasting at Papsø’s, 8-4-8-4-16=40
Black color; it pours quite oily. Very nice aroma, whiskey, peaty, with chocolate and light coffee. The mouthfeel is quite oily, the flavor is strong chocolate first of all, with pleasant peaty/whiskey touch, some roasted malt, and light liquorice (I would be happy even without it). Very good, a bit chaotic but with many sides to be enjoyed.
