Brewed 090309, Tasted 1/13/13. Courtesy of Skyview. Black color with a small head. Smoky and medicinal aroma with noticeable peat character. Just a massive peat reak flavor. Fairly salty and medicinal. Moderately malty.

Bottle. Warm asphalt, coffee, sweet chocolate, fruit esters. Notes of leather and tobacco. Creamy, thick almost as syrup, coffeeish like a fresh made espresso, slick and almost perfectly smooth (almost, because of the sharp peat notes). Sweet and full bodied, hence balancing the bitterness really well. Creamy, brown, durable head. Awesome.

10.9%ABV. Imperial Stout. Nose has charcoal with mesquite coming to mind. The smoke takes on an almost chemical dimension with liniment coming to mind. Mouthfeel is syrupy. Palate has smoke, Japanese bamboo charcoal, mesquite briquets, black honey, Chinese lo han guo, scientific name Siraitia grosvenorii. This fruit is used in Chinese medicine to sweeten otherwise unpalatably bitter brews. The sweet malt in this bear of an ale is just that dark, smoky, medicinal and nectary. No hops Nice alcoholic heat in the back of the throat to finish. Goes on Favorites List ! Goes on All Time Faves!

Black with a light beige head. Aroma is chocolate, peated whiskey, smoke, hint of coffee, plum, leather. Full bodied, sticky mouthfeel, smoky on the palate with a balancing rich sweetness and a touch of roast on the finish. Taste is chocolate, smoke, whiskey, coffee, hint of chicory, leather.

Aroma is almost purely whiskey. Very black with a dark Brown head. Taste is medium whiskey medium sweetness. Palate is more jelly than liquid, a bit of alcohol burn. Good stuff but the whiskey on it isnt my thing.

Tap at mikkeller and friends, copenhagen. Black color, dark brown head. It’s thickest beer ever seen. Aroma has rich roasty notes, licorice, whiskey, wood. Thickest body ever tasted, it’s like kisel. Roasty, whiskey, some hops and coffee. Aroma promised little bit more but still like it.

Pours dark black with a thin dark Brown head. Intense whisky aromas with licorice, light peat and smoke. Low carbonation, round body, great whisky presence, ashy, lots of coffee, really silky palate. Just a great big and bold Stout, never overpowering, really well balanced. Great stuff.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2016 Pours a dark brown with a small brown head that leaves good lacing. Nose is of peaty Islay, iodine. Taste is of smoke, scotch, light chocolate. Not too sweet or boozy, just perfect. Some grapiness. Body is medium-full and carbonation soft. There is some alcohol warmth for sure but it almost never feels hot. Lightly sticky. A solid Islay-BA imperial stout, I need more of that! This serie never fails to impress!
