Bottle. Black oily pour, small brown-ish head. Aroma of peaty whisky, iodine, oat, coffee and some roasted malt. Amazingly rich taste of boozy red fruit, subtle peat, gritty coffee, bitter cacao and a little vanilla. Thick mouthfeel, warm finish. Fantastic beer.

Pitch black, nice tanned head. Aroma is peaty, smokey, dark and sweet chocolate, coffee, some dried fruit. Taste is quite sweet but with in-your-face notes of smoke, peat, coffee, burn wood. Such a great beer - especialy if you like islay whisky already.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Thick black with a small light brown head. Wood, ink, light peat in the nose. The flavour is dominated by peated smoke, some wood, earth, dark chocolate, salty licorice. Full body, heavy sweet and bitter, soft carbonation. Good, but very dominated by the barrel.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft to taster. Looks good; a slightly translucent dark cola with thin beige head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells good too; a nice balance of dark malt, chocolate, oak, and mild peat. Tastes like it smells, but peatier, with a medium full-bodied mouthfeel. Enjoyable, but peatier than I prefer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg at BD Camden, 21/03/15.
Pitch black with a decent amount of tan swirl that assumes the shape of a pelican!
Nose is light peated tones, treacle toffee, charr, dark fruit rinds, vanilla, bitter chocolate.
Taste comprises peated malts, dark chocoalte, smoke, wooded rinse, TCP but not too overbearing, spice, tar, herbal notes, liquorice.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming alcohol in a peated smokey close.
Decent enough peated BA offering, not too intense.

Opaque black beer, thick chocolate brown head. Smoky woody nose. Smooth soft palate. Rich stout with in yer face smoky whisky. On the back end there are touches of chocolate, hops and creamy malt. The base beer is a fine beer but this barrel treatment kinda drowns it. Interesting though.

Been there and done that with Islay whiskeys, so peaty character in this one wasnt nothing extraordinary, thou very pleasant and interesting. Roasted malts, peat, some smoked qualities, some coffee, lovely choco, licorice. Light carbonation highlights sweetness, thou theres moderate roasted bitterness as well.
Lovely and interesting brew, but one timer
