Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a Duvel tulip. Pours a deep black with slight ruby highlights. Big coffee aroma with a huge chocolate fudge brownie aroma as well with a touch of dark fruit. Medium to full body with a mouthfeel somewhere between creamy and sticky. Sweet on the palate then ends a little boozy. Great big imperial stout with lots of flavor that picks up as it warms up to room temperature. Nice rich and smooth finish. A killer!

Bottle to tulip. Pours pitch black with a brownish-red head. Great laces. This beer smells like a chocolate factory. Lots of coffee and little bit of a leather smell. Plenty of wonderful booze notes as well. Definitely a bit of sweetness here. A bit bitter. Lots of wonderful chocolate and coffee notes. The beer tastes just like a chocolate malt with bourbon in it. Damn this is good. A sticky, deliciously bitter finish. Ill be heading back to the bottle shop to pick up lots more of this. Cheers.

Awesome beer for folks who like boozy beers. Chocolate, roast, sweetness, and coffee shine big in this beer. Lots of alcohol notes, but in a good way. Reminds me of a whiskey barrel aged imperial stout due to its roundness and sweetness, despite the high level of alcohol. I’d love to try the barrel aged versions.

Bottle. Dark, almost pitch black pour with a mocha head that bubbled away relatively quickly. Slow cold drip coffee concentrate, syrup, caramel, oat. Smooth yet full and thick body that may require a spoon to drink. Perfect level of carbonation...not too much but enough to make it refreshing. Bitter, sweet and creamy. Like a perfect cup of coffee

Bottle; pours black with a thin mocha colored head; aroma coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt with a hint of dark fruit; taste is very smooth with coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate with hints of dark fruits and oats; finish is bitter coffee and dry; very nicely balanced and hides the alcohol; excellent beer

Undated bottle.
Glass: Duvel tulip.
Appearance: Black body with a dark tan head. The head is short and short lived though.
Aroma: A prominent aroma of wet dog, faint coffee and chocolate, both a bit stale with a bit of cracker and lactose. Possibly old.
Taste: Dark chocolate is mild but provides a dry bitter base with faint coffee and roasted malts, a hint of chocolate sweetness, but overall a bit stale and mild.
Palate: Full-bodied to thick, mild carbonation.
Overall: Possibly an old bottle, or this is much different than I remember. Either way I won’t buy this again unless I’m sure that it’s fresh.

Syrup liquid with tiny brown head. Non transparent at all, very dark. Noble chocolate is dominant plus civecats luxurious coffee, which I never tried, but I think I can say now what is the taste of it. Bitter sweet and strong in alcohol. Just a hint of liquorice and sultanas raisin - or not, I can not decide because od divine complexity born from unique simplicity. Very expensive, but I doubt this type if beer can be cheaper. Simply glorious.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2015 Bottle at Mikkeller Bar San Francisco. Black color with tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, vanilla. Taste is cocoa, coffee, vanilla, warming finish. The booze only comes through there really. Super-silky mouthfeel, great aftertaste. Very rich. Amazingly balanced, great brew!

Bottle. Pitch black pour with tiny dark brown head that diminish fast. Aroma is intense with loads of liquorice, coffee and caramel. Still with a freshness to it. Taste is very balanced with no hints about the high ABV. Starts with some coffee and ends with a very long lasting liquorice note. Not sweet, not overly bitter, just very plesent and complex. Oily texture. Medium carbonation.
