4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an opaque black from the bottle with nice ring of lacy tan brown head that sticks nicely. Aroma is boozy chocolate up front, nice mild coffee in the middle, comes out more as it warms. Taste follows, faint chocolate but lots of the coffee, great mild roast, hint of earthy smoke. Thick and viscous, bitter coffee finish. Great stuff.

Tap at Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade. Pitch black, thick brown head disappearing fast. Nose is sweet dark caramel, coffee and burnt wood. Taste is very complex, bitter burnt notes yet sweet and very drinkable. Fullbodied, but finishes quite dry.

Apparently this is the one with the famed loewak coffee beans, making it an exclusive luxury stout... Danish oatmeal / coffee stout brewed in Norway. Thin, tanned head, colour straightforwardly black. Complex aroma of indeed coffee beans, although I am not capable of determining whether it be loewak coffee or regular coffee; also vanilla, dates, caramel and toasted bread; taste a profound maltiness, caramel, chocolate, coffee, middle a bit sweeter and fruitier, in the finish the roasted bitterness takes over with loads of coffee, long and dry; mouthfeel grainy yet silky thanks to the oatmeal. Very interesting to finally get the change to taste this exclusivity, but I fail to see a good reason to add such expensive coffee instead of any other one - I guess this would be more of interest to coffee connoisseurs.

A lot of coffee and chocolate. Quite low roast, and not very full, quite dry. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and licorice. A bit earthy. A bit too easy and not enough roast, could maybe be a bit sweeter aswell.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330 ml bottle at home, brewed at Lervig. Black color with nice beige-brown head. Aroma is mostly coffee and hops. Roasted malty, some dark chocolate and a little bit alcoholic. Taste is sweet at the beginning but it becomes bitter quite fast. Lots of of coffee and chocolate. Full body with very nice silky mouth-feel, soft carbonation, long bitter coffee and light alcoholic finish.

I wasn’t sure what to expect here. Such a hyped beer, extreme ravings, yet also a brewer that is being criticized more and more and indeed I am not always a big fan. This, though, seems to be one of the brews by which Mikkel can still be counted among the best craft brewers in Europe. It is not only the rich aromas which combine powerful malts and chocolate with earthy coffee and a surprisingly balanced appeal. It is not even the strong, mouth filling yet deeply satisfying taste of chocolate malts, well hidden alcohol warmth and long, long finish of bitters. The real standout for the is the way this beer looks and feels. One of the most luscious beers I have even seen and a velvety smooth palate, softly carbonated, never too sticky though and with a drinkability of something much less complex. Amazing recipe, very well executed too. Yes, sometimes this brewer still hits a home run, I think. (33cl bottle from Saveur Biere)

4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a 33cl bottle, pours a very black color, with a dark brown head that only stay for a minute before only leaving a ring around. Aroma of strong coffee, malts and liquor. Flavors are rich and complex, first rich coffee and hints of chocolate hits you, spicy notes, orange zests, toasty breads notes. This cat is very rich and tasty. Nice long flavors in mouth with a medium carbonation, and creamy full body. Better as it gets warmer, and with a liquor finish. This is a big stout, wonderful, very tasty and full enjoyment. Although the Weasel is not really a good thing, but it makes a great brew.
The rich coffee taste is very present all along. Thank you Weasel poop. ;)

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bottle into snifter. Dark brown with tan head that actually sticks around for while. Heavy coffee/ chocolate aroma. Taste is sweet, malty, chocolate, coffee, with a little bit of a boozy/ bitter finsh. Mouth feel is smooth, with just enough carbonation. I served it kind of cold, it gets even more smooth and sweet as it warms. Really good beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Barwa: ciemna, nieprzejrzysta. Pian brązowa, obfita, ale ultra szybko zanikająca. Całość gęsta i oleista. [4/5]
Kolejne z serii Beer Geek Mikkellera.
