4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500mL bottle from Perry’s Liquors for $17.99--that place is way too effing expensive--I don’t think I’ll go back. Clear deep deep mahogany--black in the glass--with a big ass tan head. Lots of roasted malts, coffee, and unsweetened cocoa up front in the aroma. There is also a light caramel/vanilla sweetness. Some tar and pine sap are behind. Was this supposed to be hoppy? Letting it warm up a little bit I can get the oatmeal and some dark chocolate. I go into these highly rated beers wanted to hate them, but damn, so far this is great. The flavor adds the right amount of alcohol and a little soy, but otherwise, much the same--there may be a little bit of smokiness, but I wouldn’t go as far to say campfire. The finish is semi-dry with bitterness at a 4. Big full slick body with light carbonation. Quite the tasty beer, but I don’t need to spend 20 bucks (with tax) on it again. My other bottle is coming back to Iowa.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Fantastic. Strong roasted and coffee aroma. Beautiful full and dark with a small ring that sustains, probably due to the oatmeal. Full-bodied but not syrupy. Sharp and dry finish. Bold flavors that blended nicely. Alcohol is well-hidden. Great sipping beer.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Black, oily. Small tan head. Strong aroma, coffee, roasted malt, brown sugar and licorice. Flavour has strong, bitter coffee with licorice notes. Mouthfeel is big, oily and sticky. Well balanced, strong and lasting bitterness combined with sweetness and relatively well masked alcohol. Very good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
BOTTLE 33 CL. Very sweet, luscious aroma of chocolate, molasses, warming alcohol and a touch of proper coffee. No berries or ripe fruit. If you really try, you can get some of that dry manure scent (that was so strong in De Molen’s Kopi Loewak). At this intensity it does feel somewhat pleasant. The taste is very sweet, sweet chocolate, roasted malts, a solid hop bitterness, warming alcohol. The body is smooth and creamy. Everything looks right, but it is mostly a well made impy, nothing earth shattering. The biggest disappointment, is the too faint coffee aroma. Still, a very good stout.

Beer Geek Brunch Weasel
Bottle 0.33 bought in Mikkeller bottle shop in Copenhagen
appearance: very dark brown, solid, pours with no head at all which was quite disappointing, thick, oily texture
nose: intense amazing coffee aroma, dark chocolate, cocoa, decent good quality alcohol
mouthfeel: oily, full bodied, nearly no carbonation, extremely long and delightful bittersweet finish with espresso-like acidicy
taste: reminds me kahlua, espresso, extra-dark chocolate, rum, sweetness perfectly balanced with pleasant bitterness and acidic coffee taste
overall: exquisite beer one can linger over for a long time deriving enjoyment with every little sip, minus for disappointing looks with literally no head

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at The Beer Kitchen in Kansas City. Pours a dark black to brown with a thin mocha head. I had high expectations and for the most part this did not disappoint. Aroma is coffee dark chocolate and some roast. Flavor is lots of dark chocolate with slight roast. Excellent but not quite up to the hype or price.
