Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Syrup liquid with tiny brown head. Non transparent at all, very dark. Noble chocolate is dominant plus civecats luxurious coffee, which I never tried, but I think I can say now what is the taste of it. Bitter sweet and strong in alcohol. Just a hint of liquorice and sultanas raisin - or not, I can not decide because od divine complexity born from unique simplicity. Very expensive, but I doubt this type if beer can be cheaper. Simply glorious.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Visually stunning!!! The body of this beer truly absorbs every ounce of light around it; the blackest of blacks. Enormous cotton-like latte-colored head; exploding bubbles making holes like that in swiss cheese. Pungent aroma of fresh coffee, toasted nuts, and bitter chocolate. Molasses, brown sugar, intense dark roasted Starbucks, and Godiva. Creamy, sticky, and filling. The 10.9% is invisible....this is some good shit!!! BUMP!!!

Ummm... there is something about scatological brews that is disturbing. I remember my dad used to say: "So, if all of your friends ate shit, would you join them?", in response to an: "Everyone else was doing it..." statement. I think the guests on Maury have more sense! Here is a thought... just soak the coffee in a similar enzyme that eliminates the shit-picking stage. Mmmmm! That stuff leaves a shit-eating grin on my face!

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2014 Wow, a nice surprise from friend @trevor211. Great dark pour with ring of off white head. Boozy, irish coffee nose. Sharp coffee (unique too, it comes through) and boozy taste. Intense, acidic and some surprisingly nice spice and fruit. Scary intense flavors, awesome. Rating #300.

UPDATED: APR 14, 2010 Pours so rich and thick with a good head. The coffee is the biggest smell you get but there are hints at toasted malt and dark chocolate. The taste is huge coffee and a good dose of booze rounding out the malt and bakers chocolate. Just wish it was more readily available. SIGHHHH.

Bottle. 22 oz. Drunk by my lonesome for my 666th rating, Fitting that I should be rating such a dark, smoky, literally-shit brewed beer. Pour is solid black coffee with a thick, creamy, frothy roast head. Aroma of bitter-sweet dark chocolate, portabello mushroom, fresh roast espresso, bitter-sweet cocaoa nibs, toasted malts, vanilla, soil, and a bunch more espresso. Full bodied with a thick, velvety, sticky, viscous sludge palate. Creamy and smooth through the finish with a sublte, embracing warmth. Excellent Imperial stout.

UPDATED: JUL 22, 2013 Pulled a bottle from the cellar, about three years old. Very dark pour with a minimal dark brown head. Complex nose with a cornucopia of dried fruits and a background of coffee and woodsy aromas. The nose is a thing of absolute beauty. Huge on the palate with more of the same and a toasty chocolatey midpalate with a woodsy accent. Long, dynamic finish. Truly amazing stout.

Bottle from Foodery II in Philly. Split with JRedmond and PatrickFannon. Pour is a perfect pitch black with a thick mocha colored foam atop - leaves a ton of lacing all over the glass. Smell is a espresso, cocoa, peppers.. some heat from the alcohol. Delicate but bold taste. A real treat.
