Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Syrup liquid with tiny brown head. Non transparent at all, very dark. Noble chocolate is dominant plus civecats luxurious coffee, which I never tried, but I think I can say now what is the taste of it. Bitter sweet and strong in alcohol. Just a hint of liquorice and sultanas raisin - or not, I can not decide because od divine complexity born from unique simplicity. Very expensive, but I doubt this type if beer can be cheaper. Simply glorious.

Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and hops.

Opaque black beer with a slight/medium dark brown head.

Starts heavy sweet with malts, caramel, vanilla and chocolate; ends slightly/medium bitter and dry with roasted malts, coffee and hops.

This beer is intense, complex and balanced. All that could be said, is underrating this beer. The malts together with the added sugar, give this the exact same flavour of genuine bakery chocolate. The added coffee is so amazing. The palate is superbly thick and smooth. The aroma might realistically be closer to a nine than a ten, but the taste is even a 100 out of 100; it is that good!

Pitch black, nice tanned head, great lacing. In aroma chocolate liqueur and a lot of freshly prepared coffee. Mouth feel is perfect, thick, dense, super chewy. And then there is a taste which makes man speechless. Full of coffee, a lot of chocolate, both sweet and dark bitter. The aftertaste never ends, but yet the bitterness in it is short very noble. There is not event touch of alcohol in the taste. In the very end it warms your throat just a bit, which is nice and pleasant. Because you almost have to chew this beer, and because it’s so balanced, so smooth, so nice and in the same time it gives so many sensations, it’s a perfect beer for me.

Un 10 de cerveza. Tiene un ahora dificil de olvidar pero lo más impresionante es su entrada en boca, una cerveza suave por la cantidad de avena que lleva y un sabor impresionante a vainilla, chocolate, cafe... es inmejorable.

Rating #1896 - 2015.09.20 - Bottle. Black as civet cat shit (assumed, not witnessed) with almost no tan cap. Aroma is heavy roast malts, chocolate, espresso, mild molasses notes,Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, very mild sweetness of cocoa, coffee, smoky/woodiness. For 10.9%, the alcohol heat is less pronounced than expected. Wondrous.

It pours thick black with a minimal brown head. Original "speckled lacing", which match the weasel pictured on its label. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Taste is very complex with this beautiful and strong coffee backbone (and the use the top quality civet coffee here, that known as Kopi Luwak in Indonesia and Cà phê chồn in Vietnam), which provides a hint of chocolate as well. Notes of vanilla and licorice are present as well. Alcohool well hidden. A full bodied joy for who loves both stouts and coffee. Absolute master piece!

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2011 Visually stunning!!! The body of this beer truly absorbs every ounce of light around it; the blackest of blacks. Enormous cotton-like latte-colored head; exploding bubbles making holes like that in swiss cheese. Pungent aroma of fresh coffee, toasted nuts, and bitter chocolate. Molasses, brown sugar, intense dark roasted Starbucks, and Godiva. Creamy, sticky, and filling. The 10.9% is invisible....this is some good shit!!! BUMP!!!

Ummm... there is something about scatological brews that is disturbing. I remember my dad used to say: "So, if all of your friends ate shit, would you join them?", in response to an: "Everyone else was doing it..." statement. I think the guests on Maury have more sense! Here is a thought... just soak the coffee in a similar enzyme that eliminates the shit-picking stage. Mmmmm! That stuff leaves a shit-eating grin on my face!
